What's the difference between that and when guys are holding on to their team car getting something looked at on their bike?

Yeah I know. I'm sure this stuff has been going on forever, but now everyone has a video camera on their phone, so it's a whole lot more visible.

The litmus test is whether the other GC favorites cry foul. Not a peep from anyone...

Doesn't matter. Quintana is done after today's TT. Froome again showing why he's the best rider of the Tour. Teejay again is a disappointment. Today would have been a good day to gain time on his rivals. He's not strong enough in the mountains where he's going to put in an attack. So, he's done as well. Porte should actually be the team leader, although, he rode a terrible TT too.

This is the first year i've somewhat followed the le tour. I figured since they show riders holding on to cars for bike service on broadcast TV, it must be ok or accepted rule bending. But didn't know if just blatantly holding on for a tow was a punishable thing.

This is why I shouldn't check social media during the day while the tour is on. I've been good until now. I can go ahead and delete the recording when I get home.

Sticky wheel, he just couldn't get his fingers free.

Holding onto the team car while a (very brave) mechanic hangs out a window and works on the bike is allowed. There is a limit to how long the officials will let it happen though. There is also something called 'the sticky bottle' where the bottle handoff takes longer than it really has to. Technically illegal but everybody-does-it-wink-wink. At the end of the day its really not that much advantage over the course of a multi-hour stage in a multi-stage race. You'll also see riders being paced back up to the peloton by team cars; in fact you'll see cars of competing teams pacing rivals. Basically every car will pace every rider for a short period. The objective is to get them back into the group at the least cost in energy. Usually they need this because they were involved in an accident or had a mechanical issue with the bike; the sentiment seems to be that it's 'sporting' to help them get back to where they were before the incident.

In that vein, maybe Quintana flatted and got a wheel from the neutral wheel supplier, in which case being towed back up to speed might be winked at by the officials.

I hear that! But its only a time trial, pretty much a yawn to watch.

Craziest thing I've ever seen and I've been watching the Tour since I was a kid. But, Froome won't be denied. Mad respect for this guy.

Spot on !

I saw the Tour several times in person .

Last month I saw the Ronde van Belgie =>Tour from Belgium .
They came by in front of my house 4X with a incredible speed in the rain !

I know what it is because I drove 4 years in the Belgian competition (in my youth) of course lots of doping are everywhere in this sports level ..
Not normal from what I saw ...in those 4 years !
I met several of them in person ...and in town sometimes people recognize me as well

Sadly my vitamins were not strong enough to beat the best !
Lucky I thought on my health as well ..

Nontheless..I was mostly in the top 10-20 ..also in the top 5 .
Need to say my first 4-5 races it scared the shit out of me ..
The peleton with more than 100-150 was scary as shit ...Soo/too close together with insane downhill speeds !
After a while it's just normal..
Made several times serious contact with roads as well , and woke up in a ambulance covered in blood..
Bike of course was...Total loss and fitted no more in my dad's car (may my father RIP) bike had the shape of a giant hook and the whole situation was not cheap !
Actually I can tell stories for weeks on here ... lol !

I admire your competitive spirit. I just read the cycling life of Eddie Merckx, what a champion. Best of all time and no doping. Riders from Belgium are bad ass.

Eddy Merckx no doping ?
Are you serious ? After his carier he was for 5 months in kinda drug rehabilitation center .
He's best friend was a pharmacist !
Back in time they drove on steroids , testosterone, cortisone and ampfetamines .
Do you ever heard about Tom Simpson ? => https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Tom_Simpson

I heard stories that I even can't tell on here , nontheless we need respect for the man because they drove (back in time) all with the same weapons..
Today it's different because those with the best weapons are the best shooters ,and the medical support is really advanced.
These days the drivers are rolling laboratories..

Prove or evidence for the facts ?
Of course .. And the best in history !
He's American with the name ...Lance...."Lance Armstrong"

I love Sagan. I only wish he could be a GC contender. But, there's isn't too much he can't do on a bike.
