Hard to gauge after 2 laps, but it didn't look like Hamilton was going to "pull a Vettel" and would be ripe for DRS-enabled overtaking. |

Finally got around to watching the race last night. The bottom line, and others have said this, is that if that was anyone other than Nico, these conversations would not be happening. What ever happened to "you must leave space" when another car is next to you?
I don't have a dog in this fight but my first thought is that HAM simply closed the door on ROS and it bit him. Sure, ROS could have braked with one iota of increased pressure but HAM could also have left him a little more room knowing full well that he was right next to him. It was a racing incident and nothing more, in my book. These incidents happen at lightning speed yet they are discussed like they are premeditated acts. It doesn't make sense.

Correct, there never was a door to close. Rosberg tried to create one which is very different. How often do you see an F1 driver of HAM's caliber give room when he is leading a race to someone who is clearly behind and try to intimidate them? Would Alonso, Schumi, Kimi, Senna, Prost etc,etc do that? Not a chance and ROS know it since he wouldn't either.

In a way I feel for ROS being deeper and deeper into the position of being Prost and HAM being Senna. I'm no big ROS fan but I don't think he deserves that just yet just as I think Senna's shoes is a bit too big for HAM. Last edited by solstice; 08-28-2014 at 05:42 PM.. |

Unless I see Benz deciding that Nico's car need a new tranny or something else that require a back of the grid or pit stop start at Monza I'd say that this is a perfectly executed move by ROS winning him not only the WC title but ensuring that HAM feel that he can't retaliate. And now with an apology he looks like a decent guy. You got to admire the plan, execution and result even if it stinks to high hell for us that can see it for what it is. “Suitable disciplinary measures have been taken for the incident,” the team added in a statement, without disclosing the exact punishment for Rosberg

The slapped his wrist with a dish rag and said, "blah, blah, team, blah, blah, keep driving hard, but don't cause any more accidents, blah, blah, blah".
