yeah, MOST of us do... you take the outlier example of someone on a road trip to make some ridiculous assumption that EV's will die off by 2035 if they cant charge faster than 30 minute ....that is ignorant af considering how fast Tesla is overtaking comapnies like BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, et al in sales these days even with 30 minute charging that is has right now.

What you wish and what is real are two different things. Most of your statement is just untrue. First you missed quoted me and second you made industry statements that are not even close to being true as well. Why don’t you follow the examples of others on this thread and state facts with actual links to where you got these facts? People might attempt to take you more seriously then. Until then you sound like nothing more than a triggered millennial.

There are millions of the population that live in dense urban areas with no home garages. So no, many don't or will not have the ability to charge in their garage. Road tripping is a whole different issue.

sorry to break your heart, but EV's are here to stay and Tesla will out sell BMW and Mercedes combined this year ... MOST people don't drive 300 miles a day to have to worry much about wasting 30 minutes at a Super Charger station

and most of those people probably use mass transit anyways

not really worried about gas miliage or charging times....parking is their biggest issues most of the time if they have a vehicle

What do you think is the ratio of urban dwellers to vehicle ownership right now?

There are going to be millions that don't have access to home charging. No way around it. Whether they live in apartments, condos, or homes with only street parking. Not all cities have adequate mass transit. Many urban dwellers own vehicles now and would most likely want to continue to have the freedom of vehicle ownership. A functioning DCFC network for the masses will 100% be a necessity.

The dream of everyone charging their EVs at night in their garage is not reality. It will be a convenience for many, but certainly not all.

The post that you originally replied to a couple of posts back, I was merely stating my opinion. So have many others here. If you’re convinced that the same people in Washington that told us we had a smooth pull out from Afghanistan is also going to make sure we are full EV by 2035 then more power to you pal. I’m telling you I know Americans. There’s no way in hell they’re putting up with 45 minute charging times and the long ass lines. You and our token thread troll have yet to address how the country is going to address these massively important obstacles to your dream of a green society. Washington could say the goal by 2035 is to have all flying cars if they wanted to. That doesn’t mean it’s going to happen.

Now let’s address your complete false statement that I hate electric vehicles. What a bunch of utter nonsense. I love competition. What I don’t love is favoritism by government to a particular technology or brand in any sector of capitalism. It’s not healthy and unfair. Let electric vehicles stand on their own and fight for business without government, tax breaks or subsidies.

Lastly, I still say you’re delusional as to the driving habits of other citizens. Why don’t you look up how many people actually own a house and therefore have access to nightly charging.

this is more bullish*t hyperbolism

you really think all ICE cars are going to be banned somehow by 2035, that is NOT what any state or country has stated AT ALL... What some have said is that all NEW cars will be EV by 2035, heck even huge automakers have stated the same...used ICE cars will still be readily available for decades to come....quit trying to make more out of this than what it IS

Nah. The people pushing this agenda want B. It creates dependency. Dependency creates reelections.

The next gen Porsche 718 is due to arrive as a 2025 EV-only model.
I'd be interested to know how steep the performance drop off is over a session, and how long that battery lasts.

In the early 90s CARB said 10% of new automobiles sold in California would be emissions-free by the year 2000. While that was a worthy goal, it didn't map at all well with what was possible at the time.

I think today's situation is similar: a necessary target data has been set, and now we'll see how quickly the impediments to success can be removed. Mines taking well over a decade to be approved and producing and the very long time it takes to get even renewables connected to the grid look to me to be the main issues today. There's a lot of work still to be done to get all the pieces working in concert.

The transition will take place; it's just a question of when.

Very accurate statements. And the best part is they will use every bit as much carbon credits, accomplishing and maintaining all of that as they would if we just stay at the present course. So, at the end of the day this is nothing more than a massive wealth transfer brought to you by governments of the world.

They can barely do one lap. MotorIQ had a modded, stripped Model 3 Performance that could do 1 lap in time trials before power started to drop off.

Funny how you truncated my post to leave out the answer to your question; I already stated this in that post, "It is unrefutably clear that the Government is forcing the creation of the EV market. The most recent examples are the $5B Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill, and just this past week, the EPA's new proposed emissions regulations." Oh, I should have included the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022. That's where Uncle Sam reupped on the $7,500 (max) EV tax rebate.

Our local track just banned EVs because they are not equipped to face an electric car fire. I heard it's so hard contain that most of the time firefighters will just let them burn up, it can be almost impossible to stop.
