I think we should all reveal who had who in the end anyways, so just do it if you want to. Not like they're going to stomp on it when it hits their doorstep.

I think the cord is a safety feature that ensures the ornament doesn't fall off if air resistance gets a bit much. The suction cup seems strong, I think the designer clearly is a friend of fast speeds. I wouldn't be surprised if Santa himself is using the same technology with the ornaments for his sledge.

So I was right! It is a hood ornament!

Aerodynamics clearly suffer with the model you posted and it is installed wrong. Amateurs really should stay away from modifying their cars.
