Carlos Sainz 🤝🏻 Alain Prost

The careers of these two drivers are exactly the same, having driven for Renault, McLaren, Ferrari and Williams respectively. Carlos Sainz is now in his 30s, can he achieve the same accolades as Alain Prost by the end of his career?👀

"However, that morning on the track we saw a madman who had no mercy for the car at all - in an attempt to squeeze out the maximum, he literally mocked it. As if, by making this metal creature suffer, merging with the track in a mad movement, he hoped to find not only speed, but the highest beauty and harmony.

After five laps, Villeneuve stopped. Everything was smoking on the car: wheels, tires, and axles. I remember well how anxiously I looked at Forghieri's car. And that was only the beginning."

Pietro Ferrari "The Thousand Lives of My Father".

Today, the restless Canadian would have turned 75 years old.

Joseph Gilles Henri Villeneuve (18.01.1950-8.05.1982)

Since I have already accompanied the first date for today with a quote from one of the Ferraris, I will do the same with the second:

“But from 1970 onwards, Pedro began a brilliant period, and I regretted not having signed a contract with him at the time. In fact, we met with Pedro several times about this, but the problem was that I was only prepared to offer him sports car racing for a season, while Pedro wanted a full contract. We could not come to an agreement. [...] A year later, in Nuremberg, during an insignificant race, Pedro died at the wheel of a car that he had borrowed from a privateer. And fate would have it that it turned out to be a Ferrari.”

Enzo Ferrari “My Terrible Joys”.

Pedro Rodriguez, the eldest of the brothers, winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans (1968), two-time winner of the 24 Hours of Daytona (1970, 1971) and a master of rain racing, would have turned 85 today.

Pedro Rodriguez de la Vega
(18.01.1940-11.06.1971)

The smile of a man who knows he'll go down as the oldest Formula 1 driver ever - little did he know he would still hold that title 70 years later. Louis Chiron during the 1955 Monaco Grand Prix, aged 55 years 9 months 19 days.

🔵According to Motorsport Italia, Max will be looking for a seat in a team with a Mercedes engine from 2026 because he is convinced that the Mercedes engine will be the best engine for the next generation of Formula 1 power units.

The teams that will have Mercedes engines for 2026 are McLaren, Williams, Alpine and the Mercedes team itself👀

♥️ What is the meaning of the Ferrari logo and the dancing horse?

🚘 In the Scuderia Ferrari logo, a black dancing horse standing on its two legs is placed on a yellow background under the Italian flag, but what does each of these elements mean▫️

🏎 This horse and its yellow background can also be seen on the Alfa Romeos that Enzo drove before leaving Alfa Romeo and racing under the Ferrari brand!

🏎 The yellow background of the Ferrari logo is actually the symbolic color of the city of Modena, Italy, which is the birthplace of Enzo Ferrari, the city where Enzo Ferrari began his first professional activities in the field of motorsport and automotive manufacturing with the Auto Avio Costrozioni company before the factory was bombed in World War II and forced to move to Maranello by the government. In fact, Ferrari's roots are in Modena.

▫️And the Prancing Horse symbol (in Italian: Cavallino Rampante) is older than Ferrari itself. In Italian artistic and mythological culture, this symbol is a symbol of genius, freedom, and the reckless spirit of a knight, and is actually a symbol of courage and glory. One of the pilots of the Italian army in World War I, Francesco Baracca, who is also considered one of the national heroes of Italy, used this symbol on his plane. During his meeting with Enzo Ferrari in 1923, after he shone with Alfa Romeo in a car race where they were the guests of honor, his family suggested that he use this symbol on his cars, like their son, to bring him good luck in the races. They also presented Enzo Ferrari with a model of their son's plane, which is still on Enzo Ferrari's desk in the Maranello Museum. Almost 6 years after this meeting, Enzo used the Prancing Horse symbol as the logo of the Scuderia Ferrari racing series. Scuderia means stable or place where racehorses are kept, in fact, this competition was a subsidiary of Alfa Romeo and a kind of private competition. After Enzo's separation from Alfa and 5 years after the incident, the Ferrari factory was established in the suburbs of Maranello in 1947 and the Prancing Horse emblem was first placed on Enzo Ferrari's own cars. With the impressive and historical successes of this brand and brand, Ferrari and its Prancing Horse logo became part of Italian culture and became a symbol of originality, superiority and luxury worldwide.

🚗The rectangular Ferrari logo is for road cars and the triangular logo is for racing and Scuderia Ferrari, which is also seen on the fenders of Ferrari road cars to show the connection of these models with the spirit and technology of motor racing.

History is an unfair thing. You can be a great driver, a champion, but God forbid there be something, let's say, terrible in your biography - most will remember only that.

Mike Hawthorn is not only Le Mans '55. It is the 1958 title, friendship with Peter Collins, a bunch of victories, including the 12 Hours of Sebring, 24 Hours of Spa and many others.

66 years ago, Hawthorn passed away.

"Hawthorn's uniqueness lay in the combination of his amazing abilities with extreme instability. He maintained composure in any situation and boldly took a well-calculated risk, but sometimes he could fail miserably. But on those days when Mike was in the mood, he was not afraid of his opponents and proved it time after time. [...] To Mike's credit, health was not his ally, but he made up for his physical deficiencies with his mind."

Enzo Ferrari "My Terrible Joys."

John Michael Hawthorne

Given Max's natural talent, and his still evolving talent and skill which is nowhere near it's peak, I cannot imagine any team wouldn't drop ANY other driver to sign him knowing his level has been unmatched in F1 since Schumacher's heyday.

This year is the 60 year anniversary of the first F1 race I attended...the 1965 United States Grand Prix (won by Graham Hill). One of the most interesting cars on the grid was the Honda RA272. Interesting because its 1.5L V12. It was the highest reving engine in the field (with a truly unique sound) and it was mounted transversely. Additionally you've got to realize it would be another four years before the US would see Honda's first car sold here (N600). Honda's drivers, Ritchie Ginther and Ronnie Bucknum, had no luck in the race but Ginther would get Honda's first GP win at the last GP of the year, the Mexican GP.
