Orange County NY notables:
...and all of these things happened before your cheap knockoff county was even a thing! More recent notables are being the home of President Trump's high school, the first American soil that the Iran hostages set foot on after their release, a new LegoLand theme park, the home of Angry Orchard, and unfortunately also being home of those TV bike-building clowns who use our county's name in their business. What does the west coast copy have, besides Richard Nixon, DisneyLand, earthquakes, fires, and rolling blackouts????? .

I forgot to add that the first railroad train to be dispatched by telegraph also happened here.
Oh, and Tuxedo Park is here, the original millionaire's row and namesake of the tuxedo suit that is still to this day the common formal wedding attire. Did I mention that our tap water is free and plentiful and the ground doesn't shake?????

To wit, I now have an old windshield-mount suction cup cell phone holder that I stick to the tailgate with my iPhone's camera pointing down over the hitch ball. I can see the video in the camera app on my Apple Watch, and I can get the ball in the correct position in less than a minute by myself every single time.....

Happy December! Not quite winter on the calendar, but our first major snowfall in the northeast is forecast for Wednesday-Thursday. The "fake forecast" sources that publish irresponsible scare accumulations way too early are currently throwing out a claimed 16" of snow for the mid-Hudson Valley of NY State from this mid-week nor'easter. Scare forecast or not, it is probably a good time to dig out the snow shovels and scrapers to be ready for the winter.
As I write this, there is a light snow falling outside my window this morning. The forecast is for up to an inch of snow today, our second accumulating snow so far this fall.....

Meh, it already snowed about 10'' in central MA during the last storm a week ago.
If we see 12'' in Boston I will be VERY surprised. I bet it is a nothing burger. Especially as the weekly forecast only shows light snow Thursday morning 65% chance.

The National Weather Service in NYC has just put up a Winter Storm Watch, for 12-17" of forecasted snow:

Tell me again: this "snow" thing, it's somehow dangerous? Is it like that whole water falling from the sky as "rain" thing?
Y'all need to come to California. The only thing that falls from the sky is jet fuel, IF you live near LAX. |

It is VERY sensationalized just like every aspect of the news nowadays. It is getting very old. An inch of snow? MUST REPORT!!! In the last 20+ years in the NE we handle snow and blizzards better than ever before. A few inches of snow was not a big deal 20+ years ago, it should be even less of a news story now. Big stuff sure. I also think weather reporters have nothing to look forward to most of the year. "Thunder Snow!"

On the noon news, the NYC TV talking heads are now forecasting 15-20" in our neck of the woods. Time to charge up my Bavarian Golf Cart, and take a run out to fill a few gas cans in case we need to run the generator.
Strangely, our local power company has not sent out their usual storm-preparation blurb emails yet. You know, the ones where they lecture about generator safety, checking your flashlights, and tell us about the mutual aid line/repair crews they have on standby should the power go out.....
