Am i an asshole for being apprehensive about dating a chick who's 25 with 2 kids out of wedlock, by different fathers?

By the some token, i wouldnt mind a chick with two kids by the same guy she was married to then divorced.

That's the thing...

She is a fucking teacher. A teacher. A really good one. But apparently he sucked out all the money, and all she got was bruises and she didn't have a way out. Then when she finally did, she and her kids left with nothing.

She is truly enjoying her new freedom. But the fear is there always, I take her out for walks daily with my dogs (mildly trained to handle my shit ) but it's touch and go with that family.

I know many single moms who have issues with dating anyone, since they want to keep their kids safe. They know the kids come first and men really don't get that.

My husband parents are still together, and mine were married till the end. We've had stable families and the one we started is an insane one.
