Tesla is being sold worldwide but it is still getting established. It has years to go before it will be in the same category as the established brands. In any case, it's arguing over nothing. Everybody understands that Tesla is a growing brand that has shown remarkable success.

If it makes you feel better the Norway government "helps" consumers by giving them huge tax breaks (when I used to pay taxes on something and now I don't) to buy the Tesla over other types of cars. No matter what you call it, it helps Tesla and tremendously.

I drive the best car, according to Consumer reports
It also happens to be the safest and the quickest in the world
It hauls 6 people, 3 bikes and big stroller, and tows a trailer
It gets 90+mpg and is absolutely amazing

If you're going to promote Tesla as a global brand, and then say how good it's sales are compared to the opposition, then you should really paint the complete global picture.

Not trying to be an anti-Tesla-Fanboy or anything but Tesla is heavily dependent on a single market for the majority of its sales, this is one of the reasons why I can understand that people don't really consider Tesla (or a number of American auto brands) to be a 'global' competitor - traditionally for them the focus has always been the massive domestic market - which is fair enough, but it means lots of the interesting American cars people talk about on the internet don't really exist as a thing on this side of the pond.

Car is still the best they've ever had and it broke their rating scale
Nobody's perfect. Tesla did have some early problems with drive unit and few small items
Those things are long gone
It's not any less reliable than MB or BMW, perhaps even better
I'm on my second one, no visits to service center
You think twin turbo motor was great when it first came out?

Yes the N54 also had very poor reliability, that I agree on.

The CR report came out in Oct. 15, besides Tesla and owners saying the problems are gone I guess time will tell.

I think we should stop fixating on Tesla and put that effort into having BMW to start producing similar cars with electric drivetrain

I think they are still trying to figure out how to make money on them and like virtually every other business unless they can make a decent return on them they aren't very interested. Tesla has gone all in and either electric cars will work or they will go out of business (or what is left will be sold off). No one else is willing to take this risk with an existing, profitable business.

They build electric cars to meet state requirements (they have to), and they will build some low volume cars for R&D projects/PR but spending the type of money Tesla is, all on pure electrics, is too much of a gamble.

Unfortunately it is their mentality at the moment
However, the later they start, the bigger the gap is going to be against other manufacturers who builds electric
It will be harder to compete, since many will have battery tech advantage, plus you have better chance to have cheaper packs if you produce them in volume, not just for checking box next to Gov. requirement
ICE age is going away, the question is when

Screw the Telsa Model 3, I'll still by a "Gas Guzzling" M5/6, X5/6M, Porsche Panamera Turbo S, RS7 before buying that.

I want screeching tires, screaming exhaust and constant visits to the gas station.

Aren't there a bunch of LCI coming up, like 328-> 330 and didn't a few just happen like 340 just coming out?

I bet a bunch of people were waiting just a bit longer to get the "latest and greatest" versions.

Not sure how a Telsa that's $100k+ got into this discussion.

I have my deposit in for the $35k commuter version, but at $100k+ I'm getting a gas sports gas.

good news is, from these figures, you can probably see where most of the dealer discounts are going to be (and by extention where the private party pre-owned sale discounts as well).

funny you mention this. i have no idea why, but the current gen x5 has really caught my attention. i just leased an f30, but i'm already contemplating what my next car will be and honestly the x5m is fitting the bill so nicely.

thoughts? i want the m for sure because of the performance. after only two weeks with my 328i i'm itching for something more "fun". love the car and it does exactly what i want it to do, but miss driving something fun and luxurious at the same time hence why i've been drooling over the x5m.
