I use a Garmin RTL515 taillight/radar with a Garmin Varia Vision and the Varia app on my iPhone. The iPhone alerts me to a car approaching and then I can watch the progress on my Varia Vision without having to look down at the phone. Garmin no longer makes the Varia Vision, so I'll be bummed when mine finally gives up the ghost.

With the Tour starting next week is this the first time the Start or the Finish is not been in Paris? I know there has been a few pro-logs out of the country but they have always has a stage in Paris.

I have the RTL515 too, but linked to my Edge 1030 Plus. Not heard of the varia vision, but going to look now.

I do like the idea of that Mark, but as you say, no longer available. I would probably also have trouble seeing it - I don’t have prescription cycling glasses, so likely to be a blur - I can just about read my Garmin 1030 Plus without my glasses - long distance, pretty good, hence no need for anything other than normal cycling glasses.

Did 27 miles this morning, just under 1,000 ft of elevation and quite windy, so only 15.8mph average speed. Washed the car at 7am, before the sun came out strong, and had a couple of hours making music, so got quite a few of my hobbies in today!

34 yesterday, 33.5 today. Trying to get in 100 for the week before we leave for a trip on Thursday. I need 33 more tomorrow.

Today I rode with retired Navy captain I've known for a long time. She rides with the LBS gang. Earlier this week she completed her 7th 100 mile ride of the year on her 71st birthday. She's amazing. I hope to be still be riding when I'm 71.

Another 12.4 miles in tonight, still very warm here - which we are not used to or geared up for!

Almost 24 miles this morning. Mixed in the Polk trail head and ran into more storm debris. Very hot in SETX this morning.

I did 29.2 miles around the South Cotswold’s this morning - was home before 10am. A little breezy in places, but luckily not too much traffic.

22 miles out and back in the warm afternoon, great ride. Started around 5pm in the mid 80s riding into the sun and wind. Slight tailwind on the return leg, temp still around 80. Not too much trail traffic. Felt good.

I usually ride in the mornings but it didn't work this weekend.

I only managed to find time for 18.8 miles this afternoon - too many other chores to fit in!

Probably ordering new brake rotors, Tektro 6-screw 160mm. The front rotor is slightly warped, not sure how that happened. I noticed it after replacing brake pads.

Is it normal for rotors to warp with age? I don't recall damaging (banging) it.

I don’t have disc brakes, but normally it is heat that warps discs - have you done any serious downhill runs heavy on the brakes?

No downhill runs. Maybe I banged it somehow? I have had the bike for 15 years and haven't damaged the rotors until now. I would have thought all of the shoving into and out of vehicles over the years would have done something to them, but I just noticed the warped rotor after changing brake pads 2 weeks ago.

Maybe the movement in and out if the car did it and the old pads had just worn to match the shape so that the warping wasn’t an issue.

I always had problems with my first Jag, where the discs warped and the pads wore to match, but it did mean that I could never just replace the pads. Never had that on a car before or since, and the dealer never found the cause - luckily the discs came with a 2 year warranty, so always managed to get them swapped under warranty.

One of the guys in our riding group pitched this today. Looks like a nice fall goal. 62 miles.

25 miler today. Overcast and upper 70s, so comfy for riding. Good to be back in the saddle after being away for a few days.

Logged 26 miles this morning. Good zone two pace nearly the entire ride with a couple of sprints and two moderate climbs. First hour was just hot, second hour turned extremely hot. It was definitely a "two" water bottle ride.

Houston heat isn't a dry heat either. I spent the summer of '96 there and even the cars would sweat.

We get out early to beat the heat but you definitely need to be careful. It can be dangerous after 2 pm.
