Before and after, blanket ladder and TV are in the same spots. Stoked with how this came out. $300 over budget, took right around 40 hours total. Last piece of the puzzle is a bracket to mount the soundbar under the TV, and all cables will be fully hidden. Shout to Alfisti for the idea to run the cables through the wall.

I been contemplating on doing something similar for a while now.

Can you give a bit more info on the trim pieces. Did you paint them yourself and does the finish match the cabinets from lowes?

All the trim, literally everything except for the cabinets themselves, was painted. I took the door off of one of the cabinets and had them paint match it in store, the color is pretty bang on. The finish doesn't quite match, but thats to be expected. The cabinets are super smooth, whereas where we painted is textured from the brush and roller. Not a big deal.

I used wood putty on all of the nail holes and sanded it smooth, so even though the color of the trim was SUPER close to the cabinets, they needed paint anyways. Used probably 300 brad nails, maybe more.

It looks great. Any plans for LED ambient light effects on the underside of the shelves?

Also did you end up putting a wood panel behind the tv, or is that just the wall that you color matched?

Yeah we thought about putting some LEDS in all of the shelves, just not sure what direction we want to go with it. As for behind the TV, it's just the drywall. The back of the bookcases I used some 1/8 laminated melamine (which also added some rigidity to it) but didn't want to buy and cut another piece for the TV area.

Had to spend a bunch of money on our seldom-used pool. Skimmer was broken and needed replacing, plus surface was failing. I could see surface “crumbs” when I cleaned the filter. Also decided to change waterline tiles and small tiles on steps while we were at it. Entire previous surface needed to be chipped out before new surface was applied. Diamond Brite Tahoe Blue. Took almost 2 weeks to complete job, mostly the old surface removal and prep.

Ton of dust to clean up on patio, but waiting because we aren’t supposed to vacuum pool for 3 weeks and don’t want a bunch of sand, etc. getting in it. We’re happy with finished product. Less so with spending over 9 grand.

Guess we better start using it more.

Huge improvement! I don't think the price sounds bad given the amount of work and difference it made.

I like a pool, but I'd rather go to one or the beach for a couple of weeks once or twice per year than to deal with the yearly maintenance.

Yeah we just had to have a pool 20 years ago when we bought the house. We used it a fair amount early on but like most people, it tailed off over the years and is mostly just a maintenance item. I am trying another pool service and so far so good. I have probably been through a half dozen of them over the years and alternated between a service and DIY.

We’re planning to use it more that we got it refurbished. We’ll see how that goes. Can’t remember the last time I went to the beach even though we’re in FL.

Key to a pool is put it in when kids are young or don't do it at all. We put it in just before Covid and it has been awesome, kids birthday parties etc have been a blast.

TBH it's a piece of cake balancing the chemicals. Just a little PH+ for us does the trick just fine for the most part. The hard part is keeping the fucker clean.

how much weight do you put in the readings for alky and hardness?

I run bromine in my tub, so first im trying to figure out how much i need to add weekly to sustain the recommended level.

Some calcium helps balance the hardness which I finally got down

Alky and PH drive me nuts. Baking soda (8.5PH) to raise the alky raises the PH obviously, but then you throw some Bicarbonate (PH Decreaser) to level off the PH and the alky drops LOL

I just looked into either (a) replacing pavers to match new roof of (b) re-leveling existing pavers / replenish sand between them / clean / seal. Prices were insane. Cleaning myself and punting on everything else for now.

So the wife and I are redoing our garage, painting and epoxying the floors.

Have a quick question for everyone. For those of you who golf, how do you store your golf bags? Any type of hook? Looking to put them up on the wall and off the floor since we have a lot of wall space. Links would be great!
