And why should they, really? The market is really too small for it to make a huge amount of financial sense for Adobe, especially since Apple has basically said "we won't change our code at all" to make implementing Flash any easier. It takes two to Tango.

Like I said, it has devolved into a pissing match between Jobs and Adobe. Personally, I'd rather see Adobe win than Jobs.....

Oh, and I just dropped the iPad off the list of possible devices. I'm in the market for a netbook, and was thinking of considering the iPad. But then I remembered that you can't run multiple programs on the iPad. Seems a shame, with that bigger screen and all just begging for a few "windows" to be open. Well, that and Apple's arbitrary and capricious control of the App Store...

But hey, I still love my iPhone, faults and all!

They shouldn't have to change their code. Adobe should just learn how to program their crap for OS X.

OS 4.0 is rumored to bring multi-tasking to the iPhone OS( which the iPad runs on). You can multi-task already with the native apps. Just not with the 3rd party apps.

I'm not a programmer and pls educate me on this. These sites are awesome on iPad. CBS is one of my fave.

Any of your input will greatly appreciated.
None of those sites are HTML5 across the board. You visit the site on an iPad, and it detects your device and displays the video content using HTML5. If you visit with IE or Firefox, it reverts back to its standard format, i.e. Flash.

Let's look at CNN for example, the first one on the list. If you stop by using your iPad, you get video from HTML5. But then go to www.cnn.com using IE or Firefox, and the video is displayed using Flash.

So no, those sites are not fully implemented HTML5 sites. They are sites that have cobbled together an HTML5 component specifically for iPad (and possibly Mac OS.) I don't have a Mac, so I can't comment on that.

I do know that using the iPhone to go to www.cnn.com doesn't display an HTML5 video player, it just has the "Flash" logo where the videos should be. If I stay on the Mobile version of CNN.com, I don't get videos at all.

Why? Because it was coded perfectly by Apple programmers, and there is no possible way that a minor tweak might improve functionality? Tons of companies collaborate together to make things work all the time. "This will work with your systems and bring value to your customers. But, if you make this minor tweak here, it will work exceptionally better for your customers." "Uh, no thanks. Our shit doesn't stink and works just fine. Your shit does stink, so you should fix your shit to make it work with our non-smelly shit...."

I believe you can multitask the basic BUILT IN apps, not all the apps pre-installed. But that isn't real multitasking anyway...

I like this quote from a time online article, pretty much sums up my feelings about the device:

"If I have a beef with the iPad, it's that while it's a lovely device for consuming content, it doesn't do much to facilitate its creation. The computer is the greatest all-purpose creativity tool since the pen. It put a music studio, a movie studio, a darkroom and a publishing house on everybody's desk. The iPad shifts the emphasis from creating content to merely absorbing and manipulating it. It mutes you, turns you back into a passive consumer of other people's masterpieces. In that sense, it's a step backward. Not much of a fairy-tale ending. Except for the people who are selling content."

Played around with an iPad yesterday. I must say I was pretty impressed. It is so much easier on the eyes than the iPhone screen, and easier to carry around than my macbook. I would get one if I can stream media anywhere in the house and watch it on the iPad. Anyone know if that's supported?

Flash already works for OS X. It just doesn't work for the iphone OS.

Yes there is flash for OS X, but it sucks. As already stated, whenever Safari crashes it is flash that causes it.

But isint that Safari's fault rather than the OS? I mean, there are plenty of choices of browsers for Macs (Firefox, Chrome Beta, IE (lol))

I wonder if Flash crashes Safari for PC...

Also looks like waiting a bit is a good idea, since it looks like they rushed it out the door before testing the WiFi extensively....

Congratulations you have officially wasted money on a fake class.. Unless of course it teaches you how to trick people into believing something false in order to take their money... Climate change... gtfo 30-40 years ago the world was cooling and it was "all our fault". Now all of a sudden we are warming and it is also our fault? The only person being helped by this stupidity is Al Gore's family and friends..

I used my iPad on a short trip this weekend. It was great. I used Instapaper to pre-downloa some articles in case the hotel wi-fi was useless, plus I had a couple of books. I also took my work laptop, which I try not to use for non-work purposes, just in case I found the iPad not useful. For reading forums the touch interface is better than a touch pad on a laptop, though not as a good as a mouse. For reading books the iPad is excellent, it's easier because you can hold it like a real book - similar to a Kindle or a Nook. The hotel wi-fi was slow but not terrible, so it was all good. Definitely a great device to have when you're traveling light.
