I agree the standard lighting is not as robust is the interactive bar but it's not that bad after the last firmware update it actually gets super bight not sure how much light you need lol. the one thing for me that would have completed the standard lighting is they left the cup holder out WTF BMW

Cup holders have an ambient lightning if you have 4UR, otherwise not.

Going to follow this thread.
About to make a decision on a 530e. I literally asked the SA if the interaction bar was now available on all versions as it was an issue earlier this year on the sedan. He told me there were no issues at the moment (as far as he knew).... I was happy with this as the reviews on the 530e I saw had the interaction bar. Now I'm in doubt. Did ask for a list of all issues on any options per mail.

Talked to my agent today, he got confirmation from BMW that 530e (and likely ICEs too) should re-start getting 4UR ambient lightning from November production date. Position in a queue may decide if a car will be equipped with 4UR or not, with older orders might still not get it (as their parts list gets finalized and closed for changes sooner).
November production likely means the car will be handed over to a new owner in late December or early January timeframe, depending on how fast freight takes. For me that would mean a Christmas gift, nice... yet I would want sooner. My current estimated production date is either end of July or beginning of August, meaning I should get a car by the time kids get back to school. Whether 4 months extra worth waiting? And here we come to the option to retrofit through a dealership to not void the warranty (huh, I ordered Repair Inclusive 5Y/200K kilometers package not to vanish it immediately), whether it is possible and how much it may cost - I should get some estimations tomorrow. Will keep you posted |

Tnx for the info. I have an appointment on Friday and this is still an open question. Hopefully I get the same info as a confirmation.
The retro fit. Does anyone have more info on this? Wouldn't mind going for that option as I "really' need the car for Christmas.

Just got back from the dealer. Strange experience around the interaction bar.
-Got a 530e demo car for the day. Not the most exclusive configuration but it had the interaction bar! -Sales person was convinced that all hybrids and electric 5er should have the interaction bar. Even better: another sales person is driving a 520i instead of a 530e because he does not like the interaction bar. -Let's configure my build: No, 4UR is not selectable so no interaction bar on a 530e. He is now checking with dutch HQ to have an answer to this mysterious yes/no interaction bar thing. Also checking for any other build limitations as my build is pretty much full option and a few of these are really a go/no-go for me if they are not available. Will let you know again if I have more info.

Can it be that you cannot select 4UR as it is standard? At least this is the case in Europe. The 530i, 540i and all electric and hybrid 5 series have this as standard

it's wild that this discussion is still filled with so many unknowns, meanwhile, the new X3 goes even further with the light bars. Granted that got hit with massive cost cutting everywhere else

The restriction with 4UR for 530e came starting Feb'24 production date and will last until Nov'24 production date. At least in continental Europe. Anything in between comes w/o 4UR, unless it is 550e or EV.

I only went ahead when I saw "4UR Ambient Lighting" on the list of standard options. In the correct order even. Right in between 4U9 & 4V1 - the truly awful exterior and iconic sounds. |

I made sure when I placed my order and got the Acceptance for build sheet back from BMW that it had listed 4UR on the sheet.
for those ordering the US 530i beware: On the pricing guide for the 530i, 530i X Drive, and 540i X Drive on page 6 right around the middle of the page it lists 4UR blank for both 530i models and STD for the 540i, then at the bottom it has a code ZWL Remove Ambient Lighting (4UR) and STD for both 530 models and blank for the 540. So even if it lists 4UR on the build sheet make sure it doesn't have ZWL listed elsewhere. |

Got confirmation of the dealer. Interaction Bar is not available except for 550e and i5. This is because of delivery issues.
It was possibly earlier so that's why some demos have the interaction bar. This will continue for the rest of this year but no guarantee it will be fixed next year. For me, this is a no go as I'm not in need of a new car/lease and not willing to switch early if it's not exactly how I want it. Maybe if there will be a 550e touring?
