Cheeky win for Seb. Didn't feel like he deserved it but it was the right call. Sucks for Lec but he will bounce back, he seems to have the edge on Seb, the remaining races will prove that.

Merc was just unlucky, they played the long game and the 3 safety cars messed that plan up.

One of the reasons Mercedes stayed out that long was in hopes of the safety car coming out. If it had, they would have saved a lot of time when stopping for tires.

While the multiple safety cars at the end did help Ferrari and their tire wear, it would have also helped Mercedes had it comes out a few laps sooner before Hamilton stopped for new tires.

When Merc come up against cars that are superior they simply fall apart in spite of the safety cars and BOT was being controlled to stay behind the chosen one when he could have attacked.

I dont think they really fell apart, it's a notorious track position location, they dont have 2 secs plus per lap to overtake.
And we all know what bot does once he is past, just sits there, never seen him make any nice overtake

This course needs to be changed or scrap it as a race. The main excitement comes from the fact that it guarantees yellow flags. While entertaining for fans, that's basically dangerous for the drivers and supposedly not the intent. F1 must be collecting a lot of money here.

Yea I don't think they fell apart also. You could say Ferrari had the faster car all year but couldn't put it together for a full race weekend, several team/driver failures/mistakes in the first half. So even with the lesser car Mercs have been getting more out of them atleast in the first half.

Should be an interesting finish to the season, hopefully we see some great racing.

I agree. There's no way to know how Ferrari's strategy would have played out, but they stayed firm with their plan. The yellow flags definitely helped, and the result of those flags are more luck than anything. Also, Ferrari has been the fastest car on straights all season long.

Honestly, the fact that there is now a legitimate 3 team battle for podiums from here on out will make for an interesting rest of the season. I don't care that Merc is so far ahead on points, I just hope we finish out the season with excitement.

As a whole package, the Mercedes has been a better car this season though. The Ferrari is (at least was up until this weekend) faster only in a straight line.

Analysis from earlier this year showed that Ferrari was losing quite a bit of time in slow and mid speed corners compared to the Mercedes (more than they were gaining in outright speed on the straights).
