There is no part availability at all right now for my car. BMW is stating they have no ETA. Kind of a problem because the issue is having much more frequently now. |

Maybe they changed the priority and we have not seen since those with the issue were getting them first. Dealers have been receiving parts for the stop sale vehicles and were able to also get them for vehicles exhibiting the issue.

This brake issue is causing huge financial issues for BMW. Share prices have plunged, and they had to revise the profit margins downward. So...what that probably translates into is that in some manner, customers will be picking up some or all the costs in that there will be fewer incentives, perhaps price increases, etc. Shame all this happened, but the financial burden should be on the supplier who messed up.

If you are already driving and own your car, BMW isn't worried much about your car yet. They're prioritizing vehicles that are waiting to be picked up and signed for by their to-be owners. Stopping into service or calling your service advisor will net you zero answers, as publicly owned vehicles seemingly aren't of much concern yet. |

That's good to know. And good they are prioritizing on the road cars first.

I hope this is the case in the US as well. Interestingly I found that when it happened yesterday, I powered off the car and back and it went back to normal.

Which leads to me a more specific question. Does anyone here have an i5 that has the problem had the part replaced yet? I’m seeing all these reports of parts being available but nothing specific to the i5.

The priority had been vehicles with the issue and then those on recall. Supposedly with the stop sale it is vehicles with the issue, vehicles on stop sale and then vehicles on recall however it seems like there are vehicles with the issue that are not getting the part and parts are shipping for stop sale vehicles. Hopefully the ones with the issue will still take priority once the parts are flowing more freely.

Are the recalls being completed? Just purchased the 2025 i5 last week but of course there is a Stop Sale. The car is at the dealership and hoping to get it soon but nobody seems to know when???

FYI, my dealership was supposed to bring my car in this last week to fix a sun visor issue, and they were going to take care of the recalls at the same time. However, then never contacted me to set it up. I suspect they are waiting until they have the parts/procedure to fix the brake recall issue first. I'll update the thread once I actually get the recall fixed.

That would seem to imply that cars being produced now aren't free from the issue.
I had taken heart from a few posters earlier in the thread saying it was circa mid august that cars produced from would be ok. My WK 36 production i5 is due for delivery to the dealer this week, so will see how I get on... |

Wow - this piece in Bloomberg puts things in perspective:
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic..._campaign=copy - 1.5M vehicles involved - Rolls Royce, sedans and SUV’s - First came up in June 2022 - traced to a manufacturing plant in Hungary where dust/smudges contaminated the assembly of circuit boards |

With the current halt in production, this makes me think the discovery of the real issue must have been recent. Further confirmed by the fact that vehicles in assembly have halted. My burning question would be, Is it possible for the company that supplies them to instantly pivot their Manufacturing process to prevent further circuit boards from being contaminated. (e.g. is it human process driven error or robotic). |
