I'm sure Lewis can relate to the hate Latifi could be receiving. It's the world we live in is a poor excuse to turn a blind eye to it. Problem is many sports "fans" have extremely poor morals and values. Humans naturally revert to tribalism so they adopt a driver into their tribe and anyone that threatens their tribe is viciously attacked (especially when they can do it anonymously on social media... a haven for cowards). We acknowledge this problem and refuse to accept it. I don't condone it and support the teams that speak out against it.

It's not just racism, tbh that wasn't even the main thing I was eluding to. It's more of a cultural problem that many people take issue with. The way he dresses and speaks and the things he is vocal about. If Lewis resembled Carlton Banks (from Fresh Prince) he'd probably get less social media hatred.

Muhammad Ali is considered one of the greatest sports men because he didn't just shut up and box. Lewis can be himself and stand for what he believes in. He will be hated by many for it, but those that identify with him will appreciate him using his platform to bring attention to their culture.

First, I think hate is a very strong word and HAM is one of the most popular drivers in the entire world. Cultures are different and that's a good thing. Sure I pick on him and don't agree with some of his stances. But that doesn't mean I hate or even dislike him. Things I say and do on some obscure BMW F1 sub-forum will never be seen by HAM. I'd never be disrespectful to him in person!

I guess my thing is why should I pull for HAM?

My favorite drivers and teams came and went until around 2002
Kimi became my favorite driver
Ferrari became my favorite team
Nothing has changed since
