We had one RIR that was a great layer. One or two a day until a bobcat took her.

Do the turkey hens lay?

They must, since they are birds, but I have yet to see one in my own back yard. I don't know if they are edible either. . .

While they currently weigh in about 30lbs each, they are still immature. I don't know how long it takes a turkey to start laying eggs, but none of our chickens who were born this Spring will lay until next year, typically.

The two toms are just starting to gobble, at 45+ lbs each. And that thingy on their head, that they seem to be able to expand/contract on demand, is getting to be ridiculously long.

My dinner yesterday.

I can't wait for my taste puds going back to living in America mode. In two weeks I've had one meal that wasn't jalapenos.

Funny story behind the picture- so I had an extra floor mattress/futon. I had it washed because while I care more for animals than humans, I do have a soft spot for my people in Mexico and planned to donate it at the Salesian shelter.

I get home, and bowsers laying on it, staring at me as if he were saying "so what you gonna do about it."
