Options are for suckers, or best case, people who will keep the car long enough to not be concerned about the lost value on resale. Those $95k C8's will be worth exactly the same as a $70k C8 with the Z51 and Mag Ride in two or three years, someone will just get some extra leather trim for free.

Just trying to be annoying, with a 3LT, I only got to $86k, and that's with $400 orange seatbelts. You'd have to tick every check box to get to $95k, and then you'd have the equivalent of a $55k 320i.

$95k area is maxing it on options. As said above, 2LT with Z51 is really all ya need. Don't even need mag ride & don't need $2k seats

I never used the configurator, but I guess 95 would be damn near maxed. Either way, not maxing it, my build was approaching $80,000 with only 2-3 boxes checked. That's still way off the base price. For that money, I'd snag a used Gen V all day; infinitely better looking, has a man pedal, a V10 that'll make 650 wheel with a head/cam package, and a car that you don't see hundreds of per week. Done.

I was simply saying I doubt most people will be going for the base model with 0 options. At the end of the day, it's still a Corvette. The C8 is to Corvette what the GT350 is to Mustangs, in my eyes.


I'm not saying it's a bad car, it's just not for me, hence why I wouldn't consider getting rid of the M for it. There is obviously a large market out there for it, so I'm excited to see what people start doing to them, whether that be a more track focused setup, forced induction, radials, etc. In stock form, they bore the crap out of me.

This is the move, especially for the manual enthusiasts. All of the C7's will be quickly dropping in value, so if you're a Vette fan and want the 3rd pedal, you are SET.

The entry level C8 already beat the brand new 911 turbo powered 922 around Nurburgring and did it for many thousands of bucks under the German wonder car price. The Z06/ZR1 will be running with and beating cars some of the world best super cars just as the C6Z/R and C7Z/R did for many thousands less then the foreign competition. It’s not all about the savings of the Corvette that makes it very popular but other factors as well. Being less expensive then many is only part of the equation. The Z06 and ZR1( if they build it) will be very in demand sports cars as they were in the past. The fact that they’ll be mid engine will make them sell like hot cakes.

The bolded section is a lie. The C8 ran a 7:28. The 991.2 (the OLD Turbo S), ran a a 7:17, the new 992 is expected to break the 7 minute mark. The C8 is not even on the same level as the Pcar, NEVER will be. I've been in many Vettes (C5 and up), while the quality is slowly improving, it's still a mass produced American car.

American cars in general are always "best bang for your buck." But look at what the least reliable vehicles are, in the US, for 2019. Pretty much across the board, the number 1 and number 2 LEAST reliable are GM vehicles. I'm not saying that a SS 1LE Camaro won't smoke my M2C on track, or even a C5Z, but I couldn't care less about lap times (only reason I listed them above is because that statement was 100% false). If you're after the fastest "new" car for the least amount of money, by all means spend your dollars where you want and if that's the C8, HAVE FUN, after all that's why we buy these things.

Given my stance, which should be pretty obvious in my posts, on American cars, I'll be a liar if I said I didn't cross shop a 2020 2SS 1LE and a GT350 with the M2C, but ultimately you can see what I went with. I'm not trying to say that that they're shit cars, they just aren't for me.

Wow, you're all frothed up there. Take a breath. I used to be like you. German or bust. Thankfully, I've grown to appreciate a lot of different cars for what they are---and make no mistake, no car is perfect. And speaking of errors, your interpretation of the post you quoted is also wrong. That poster wasn't talking about the 911 Turbo cars, he is talking about a 992 Carrera S, which is slightly slower than a C8. As you may know, the current Carreras have a turbo in them, they are no longer NA. Do you know how much a Carrera costs? Tens of thousands more than a C8 with Z51 package. So from a value perspective, you're still getting WAY more performance in the Vette than in the vastly more expensive 911. And if you look at what most dealers stock, you aren't getting into a 992 CS for much less than $130k.

Huh? The M2C is my first German car, definitely not the only car brand out there, and I also said I was cross shopping the M with 2 American cars... Perhaps you misinterpreted what I was trying to say.



To stay on topic, the C8Z is definitely something that will get my attention, if it gets the cross plane TT motor in the IMSA car. If they widen the body of the Z06 variant, like they did the C6 and C7, perhaps it'll fix some of my complaints about the odd proportions.

Not wanting to get into any type of debate, but I infinitely trust my Corvette in reliability over any of the BMW's I have owned. Now granted that is the only GM product I have owned, so I can't comment about the rest.

I have had "M" cars...now I daily drive a lowly 128i. But I feel more confident in taking a road trip in the Vette vs. the 128i just because of potential WP issues...and all of that maintenance has been done. But it's still in the back of my mind.

I won't even get into the N54 issues as I have plenty of friends with them, and they tell me it's a love/hate relationship.

I had the chance to do the "M" driving school last December. I will be the first to admit the M2C was probably my favorite out of all of them.

But since my cars are paid off and I will be spending cash on my next one, it will be the C6 that gets sold and a C7 that I will buy.

But I do love German cars!
