Right now there's a shooter on the MIT campus. Officer down, suspect stole his gun, and is wandering around campus. This happened around building 32. The whole school is on lockdown so nobody can enter or exit the buildings. Source is what my sister heard since she is a student there, currently under lockdown in her building.

oh, and just tonight, a guy walked into the hooters on hollywood blvd and dropped a pail, said it was a bomb. the entire street was cleared, then the cops got him and he said he was just kidding. i'd like to see how this one plays out.

Something is going down in Boston.

Right after the MIT shooting, there was a carjacking and one suspect arrested in Watertown. Now the entire area is filled with police activities and reporting to found explosive devices.

And they all happened within hours.

These guys are Chechens.My guess would be that Islam will be involved somewhere in this; the Russians have been fighting an Islamic insurgency in Chechnya and surrounding North Caucasus areas since the mid 1990s.

it is a history that is so complex, you have to really understand the history of the Russian Caucsus region and the suppression by the USSR and the 3 wars there in the last 12 years. My guess is those brothers were either self radicalized, or inspired by certain chechen or islamist idology.

The complexity is that the Chechen War was a political war of independence, but AQ and islamist who were also involved who helped the Islamist idology side (IIPB) made it very easy for the Russians to categorize them all as terrorists. (and dont' get me wrong, they were terrorists, but not the Chechens). Many AQ members who fought in Afghanistan were also in the balkan war and the Chechen War. My understanding was that the Chechens themselves overall never hated the US, but the Islamic radicalist sides did. I think groups also hated the US neturality and even minor support of the Russian against the Islamist as our supposed anti-islam agenda.

We're all about to get a serious education on the "Cacusus Emirate" shorty....wow this is so complex.

Let's just wait to see how deep this goes. It may not go too deep, considering outside of bombing, those guys didn't have much of a plan or network support to escape, etc. Just looking at what happened, after you've committed a crime, you don't run away, and your next step is after your picture was released, you call your family to say sorry, then you rob a store for money.

They need to strap a pipe bomb to his legs and blow them off and then keep him alive so he feels what others felt! unfortunately, it's classic family denial that someone so close to you can do such a thing. The reality is that people grow apart from their loved ones when they become adults and are radicalized and highly influenced by others around them. Often their family has mimimum control over them.
