So if I lose my job and struggle to find another one. I use up all my savings and the bank repossesses my shit.. (house, car, etc.) I decide to go rob a bank. I'm not a problem? It's someone elses fault that I robbed the bank? Stop rearranging blame after the fact... Hippies have been getting arrested for shit like this forever.. You want to protest? Protest. You want to protest in a way that purposely impedes the flow of traffic down a walk way... you're going to face the consequences for those actions. Had they listened to police officers requests to move off the walkway/street and had the EXACT same protest on the grass this may not have happened. There were more than enough people standing in the area off the walkway (those who listened to police). The ones who got fucked up were trying to prove a point. They knew they would get arrested or have to face some consequences. Play stupid games... GET PEPPER SPRAYED IN THE FUCKING FACE.

I don't believe North Dakota state schools carry much prestige... and many other state schools do not carry the same level as that of the UC system. If you look at overall rankings, our institutions are generally at the higher end of the spectrum. Saying people are ignorant just shows how little you understand about California culture. You must know that America has plenty of different political sects and social cultures. We are not the same as North Dakota, and what we value is probably very different from what your state values. Where I was raised, many people are self-made. These are professionals who used education as a tool for social mobility and progress, and as a result, California has prospered.
The funny thing about these boards is that many of you guys fail to realize how different people are from state to state. It's okay if you don't value education over say the economy... because there are a lot of problems in the world and we all worry about different things.

You can not be fucking serious.... You think self-made people are more common in your state than in others? California culture? The UC system is very well respected, as it should be. But what exactly does this have to do with a part of a much larger group of people who decided to be stubborn and "stand up for their rights"? Well...? There were more people who listened to police and continued to protest than those who ignored their requests.. Your self-made state was made that fucking way by borrowing, borrowing and more fucking borrowing. You pass environmental laws without doing enough research and when the bill comes you tell creditors to fuck off... Remember the little energy problem you had a few years ago? Well done, California. Don't try to pull this California golden state shit here... Or at least come with a better fucking argument because that shit was pitiful. You elected a fucking action movie star your governor. You guys are in time out for the next decade..

OK.. I had a similar conversation with the union during my last CBA negotiations. They were completely disconnected from reality as well..
While I completely agree that education is so very important at helping our youth transition into the workforce.. The idea that we can spend more money now than we did during the highs of 06-07 is just ludicrous. Unions are DEMANDING more money from employers and the state ones are DEMANDING that jobs not get cut and REFUSE to take a pay cut... WHERE DO THEY THINK THE MONEY IS COMING FROM!?!? The well has run dry... and in my case during negotiations I offered to open up my books and show them how much had been lost due to the recession. They were completely uninterested. That meant nothing to them. Business owners have become the enemy of the country. We are all evil greedy people who only want to abuse and take advantage of workers for our own financial gain.... Seem a little familiar? Starting to sound like an Ayn Rand novel... no? This is very similar to the people of Greece not understanding that they can't retire at age 25 and get benefits for the rest of their lives. Or France for that matter. In bad times there isn't enough money to go around. Not a Newt fan.. but one thing he said is scary to even imagine.. http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-me...-one-administ/ What do we need so many administrators for? Oh that's right.. because colleges are NPO and they HAVE to spend the money somewhere. Soooooo... let's keep raising our tuition and hiring more administrators. Stop asking wall street execs to tighten their belts when unions, colleges, states and even this country is unwilling to do it themselves.... fucking hypocrites... /end rant..

The well never really runs out... the water in the well has been dwindling down and the person on top decides where that water goes. I think I recently read that Chrysler's factory in Toledo could only expand in capacity and employment if the Union took cuts, and the union decided to go in that direction. But, these two groups were represented in the deal... so maybe there is hope for industry. Quote:

...and I was saying what I said about spraying them again just to get a rise. Do I think the police should be disciplined/fired/etc...? Yeah, they were definitely out of line in how extreme their reaction was. There's no question about that. However, the students brought it on themselves. They knew exactly what was going to happen. This is why it was fun and satisfying to see them sprayed. The more brutal stuff, no, I don't agree with that, but the initial spraying made me giggle. Sure, they may be book smart, but there's also common sense smart. These kids are not that. The kids who moved to the lawn... yeah... my money is on them being more successful. |

That's it. I'm going to become a professor and hold only once class a semester. Common sense 101, followed by: How not to get your ass kicked by the police. All I'll have to do for that one is play that Chris Rock video.
