Fuck that.

We had baseball sized hail here on Monday. I was on a golf course in NJ and it was beautiful all day. I got a call from one of my friends around 5 o clock. He was frantic. He was screaming about how crazy the weather was and how this enormous hail blew out his front and rear windshield along with more dents than he could count. They ended up totaling his car.

Baseball sized hail. This is does not happen where we live.

my old STi, which now belongs to my little brother, who in turn lives in Dallas, got wacked with hail a few months back.

my little brother and his g/f came down this weekend to smah some BBQ and he said "i can't wait to get back to Dallas - it doesn't feel as hot. i can't remember the last time i sweated in Dallas"

**knocks on wood** - Houston very rarely get shail. i have personally never had a vehicle get with with hail in the 15 years that i've been driving.

Well we get the occasional small time hail like the size of coffee bean ice but nothing to write home about.

Seems always super random though; like a few months ago i was driving down the 101 from universal studios and all a sudden it got a little cloudy then hailed out of nowhere

Texas in the red: No drought relief expected in the near future
Posted: Thursday, August 4, 2011 10:47 am

As drought conditions continue, the Texas Forest Service reminds suburban residents that they are just as susceptible to wildfires as those in rural areas.

Texas’ drought problems will likely continue through October, meterologists predict in a report released Thursday morning.

“Apart from the relief offered by isolated thunderstorms, or perhaps a tropical system, drought conditions are anticipated to persist over the south-central states through the August-October period,” said meteorologist Anthony Artusa with the National Weather Service’s Climate Prediction Center.

According to the U.S. Drought Monitor report, also released Thurday by Brad Rippey with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the state has seen a miniscule improvement since the July 26 report was released: 0.07 percent of Texas is now drought free, compared to 0 percent last week.

And, 73.49 percent of the state is listed in exceptional drought compared to 75.23 percent last week.

It appears as though Texas and Oklahoma have the worst luck in the nation when it comes to rain.

The National Weather Service predicts the drought will persist or worsen in both states, while improvement is likely for other parts of the Gulf Coast, including part of Louisiana and some of Florida, thanks to daily wet-season thunderstorms, Artusa said.

Officially reached "I can't take it" level. I am in construction and our crews are commenting on the heat which I have NEVER heard since getting in the business years ago.

My home a/c jumps back on after just a few minutes off set at 76 which is above what I prefer. I feel for folks relying on little window units or worse.. fans.

Rolling black outs are a good possibilty. My favorite watering hole lost power early and when I visited it was still hot inside.
