I really look forward to where the discussion around EV's can stop being politicized.

I also look forward to people rendering opinions about what products are or are not about who actually have experience with those products. And by experience I do NOT mean: your friend has one, what you read in the paper, a 5 minute test drive or extensive YouTube research. I mean actually living with one or having a rational discussion with someone who has without bringing your own agenda. You know. Having an open mind and all that.

I also recognize that both of those things have about as much chance as happening as me winning the lottery.

There is so, So, SO much false narrative based on FUD in this thread it's laughable. Both about the environmental impacts / benefits of EV's, the depreciation, and the actual ownership experience. It's sad.

Don’t do that. Don’t shoot yourself in the foot.

Your other perfectly reasonable arguments get weakened when grouped with this logical fallacy. Even if there is an agenda by the people making an argument, the argument should be judged based on its own merits, because even stopped clock is right twice a day.

This would be a more valid argument:

“As far as being environmentally friendly, it not as universally agreed upon by experts as we thing it is.”

Proportions look nice. Curious to see how the ICE and EV versions of the next M3 stack up against each other in terms of power, weight and price. My guess is that the ICE version will outsell the EV by a significant margin.

The non-hybrid Accord 4 cylinders are 3,300 lbs.

No modern cars are at this weight. Why would you set this benchmark for an EV?

Because it's the only acceptable EV.

I don't drive pigs.

Even my SUV is just 3,700 lbs.

I'm still waiting on this, and I'm quite curious about the weight.

This. Just hearing an ICE driver floor it making all sorts of racket just to rush to the next red light. It's amusing.

It's mostly curmudgeon gassers complaining, and they latch on to any headline that assists them.

Those of us with EVs really, really like them.

Ahh yes, fear, uncertainty, and doubt…

The almighty FUD… 🤣

I have faith that BMW M can make something absolutely amazing

I would love to retire my latest 24 model three performance and drive something from BMW’s M Division

Until then, I drive the best Electric Sedan that is available today that fits my everyday needs. Nothing else comes remotely close for the value and the performance

And then in straight line performance, the Taycan Turbo GT will leave any stock BMW.
Latest polls show 1% of EV owners actually want to go back to a gas car.
Wait till they see the integrated motor braking that Mercedes is working on which they claim will eliminate brake fade (and eliminate the need for rotors/calipers which will significantly reduce unsprung mass).

The reality is that most of the pushback on this site toward EVs is of the feelings over facts variety.

I went back to G80 M3 ICE because that's the experience I wanted out of my daily driver because my use case is much shorter daily trips, and I wanted one car to do it all. I do not feel like the something like a Taycan would fit the bill for that.

But if I still had a 911 or another, maybe older M3 for weekends and fun trips, an EV M3 as a daily would honestly be better.
Cool - let me know when you buy one. This reminds me of when people claim they want the wagon but no one ever buys it. It's a good novelty item that has little demand.

Feelings over facts...is that why BMW is giving away electric cars? There is no demand. People don't want to wait 45 minutes at a charging station. The infrastructure is still not there.
