Bottas looked pretty decent today. It would be interesting to see his performance in the qualifying.

Based on what I gather: Antonelli is outstanding - very promising.

Unfortunately everyone is going to have the same tire wear like Qatar last year due to the new surface.

So far everyone has basically the same race pace, except Mercedes is slightly behind.

Qualifying is basically Mclaren, Ferrari, RBR in that order.

The issue is with the new surface, Mclaren's tire wear advantage may not come into effect here.

This may be a test of strategy since everyone is so even on race pace. I feel a safety car could be on its way too

Have to wait and see. So far, for a guy that is supposed to be the next Max, Senna, or Schumacher (as is being told and quote ad nauseum), I'm not seeing it yet. Doesnt mean he wont be good but so far it's too hard to tell given the lackluster F2 results and not quite the F1 start you'd want.

Also not taking into account that RBR runs a much lower engine mode until quali. Their top speeds always seem low until that point.

Race pace simulations have Red Bull as fastest but quali simulation it’s McLaren.

Ferrari then Mercedes after them a little further behind. So all for RB to lose this one it looks like, the above top speeds aren’t representative as Helmet has already said they ran a very low engine today. The above simulations remove that factor.

The suggestion that Colapinto had been paid for also seems to be incorrect, however they do seem to be getting sponsorship deals in that will add significantly but not on the car yet. So they went for the driver not the money he himself has brought nothing it appears directly despite the inaccurate reports.

Looks like Wolff has made a great choice with Antonelli.
I'm pretty sure the boy just s@cks (!)

That's why Wolff should keep him to replace LEW.

Where do we get that RB is slower than Ferrari when this is a corse that favors their setup. Max basically didn't even get to do a full flying lap, so we are basing pace on Checo

This is Max's race to lose.

The new Monza circuit road surface is treacherous. Very experienced SC driver Bernd Mayländer crashed the Safety Car. F1 rookie Antonelli crashed. F1 rookie Colapinto narrowly avoided a shunt at the same spot as Antonelli.

More crashes to come (especially at the Parabolica turn).

Still can't get over that Aston shunted with the words 'safety car' on it
With this we can probably expect more whoopsies as the weekend progresses.

The slippery new track surface will get more "rubbered" as the weekend progresses.

They're lucky it ain't gonna rain this race weekend.
