Ambient air is a feature similar to MB's interior air freshener system with containers/cartridges of fragrance you can load in (not available in the US).

Oooh! I saw that during my research. Thanks for explaining it; Personally think it would be a cool option, but I frequently have passengers that are migraine prone and sensitive to fragrances so I’m not sure if it would have worked out.

Please be sure to let us know how it fits, feels and works out - with pictures please. I'm thinking of getting them, but I don't want them to be too thick, or restrict the space in the front door towards the rear.

I was thinking about trying this:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/235472347459

Anyone tried something like this? It appears to sit above the actual bottom of the center console floor - it looks like the rear sits on top of the cigarette lighter insert. If so, you could store bulkier, less used items below it, and just keep your smaller or more frequently used things in this tray. I might get it just to try it out. Right now, I have a bunch of things in the center console, all sitting on top of each other and it gets messy easily:
  • Two small Kleenex packs.
  • Two small microfiber cloths (one plush and the other with a low pile).
  • Sunglasses.
  • Reading glasses.
  • Collapsible reading glasses in a small case (the size of a small lighter) which I take in my pocket when going into restaurants, etc.
  • BU ETH dongle for the car.

I like it very much. Who ever picked the fragrances did an excellent job and keeps the car smelling.... fresh/new. They are loaded in a cartridge holder inside the glove compartment and are distributed throughout the cabin via the car's HVAC system. You can adjust intensity, or turn it off and you can switch fragrances on the fly in the car's HVAC menu, because you load up more than one cartridge at a time. It is very cool. Kind of expensive, but it is subtly noticeable or more noticeable if you dial it up to 3 (max).

The more I learn about the 550e, the more I am beginning to realize there were lots of cost cutting measures. Is it true that comfort access is not available on the back doors? That is, if you put your thumb on the handle with key in pocket, does it unlock the door? I heard not.

In have this also. It was available on Amazon and had positive reviews. I can let you know how that fits as well. I feel like I have a boatload of accessories! Now I just need a car to put them in

Thanks, but I ordered that one earlier today so I will probably have it before you have your car anyway (but who knows?). I wish I saw it on Amazon before I ordered it on eBay - mine will take a while to ship here, but at least I'll have it (too late to cancel the order since it already "shipped").

Thanks for the offer though!

It's this scented air cartridge thingy you could plug into a port for the A/C system so it would freshen the air. Lol. Kinda like a really expensive Glade Plug-in for Bimmers. It was to prevent people from hanging those truck stop Christmas tree air fresheners on the rear view mirror and soiling the image of their Bimmer.

I've also bought it in my Aliexpress affair... The main problem for me is that it reduces the space, and if you want to carry some cloths is not enough.

And if you let the glasses under the tray, the glass touchs the botton part of the tray. Once the "botton compartment" is overloaded (and it is really easy), the tray stands over the glasses and doesn't fit the upper part.

I will try to make some photos this evening.

I agree, the center console is not very big. Oddly enough the one in both the Range Rover and the Mercedes is bigger.

Not my best photos, but they should show how limited is the space under the armrest, and it gets even worse with the tray.

I think the hole for the light has enough gap to pass a wire if you want to use the 12v outlet, but if the 12v connector is bigger than the socket cover, you will probably have problems trying to fit the tray in its position.

Thanks for the photos! Why did you take the silicone mats out of the smaller areas of the tray?

I didn’t realize! I thought it was built that way, but I have looked in the product description and they should be there… Aliexpress quality control, I guess

Put me down in that camp, minus the migraines. I HATE artificial fragrances, air fresheners, even scented candles. Don't get me started on the folks who go too heavy on the perfume, cologne, Axe body spray, whatever.

I like my car to smell like a clean car. Ironically, my wife has a Home business making home-made cold process soaps, bath bombs, lip balms, body lotions, and other bath and beauty products as well as scented Soy and coconut wax candles. Her studio is in our Basement. She uses bot essential oils as well as fragrance oils, so my house always smells great! We usually test the candles in the living room and kitchen, But I don't like that in my car.

Same. These are the only ones I've seen, and the price is steep for a painted reflector imho. The one thing I'd want to see is how many fasteners on the G60 need to be removed to do the job. I saw a YouTube video of it done on a 3 series.

However, something to consider: I read another conversation regarding this very topic, and an attorney chimed in that if you do this modification, you are technically in violation of US Dept of Transportation § 393.11. If you were ever in an accident, and had an astute investigator, it would likely not go well for you in court, and you could have your ass handed to you.

One of those risk/reward situations, perhaps. Still like the look of them without them, to be sure.

I went a little nuts the other night and ordered some more stuff for the car. I blame Airedale and Todd for being a bad influence.

Currently waiting for all of the stuff below to be delivered. When I get the stuff in, I'll post my thoughts with some photos. Most stuff purchased from AliExpress, one item from eBay and one item from www.advantagebmwparts.com. They should all arrive sometime within the next two weeks or so.

Center Console Organizer Tray
Ebay

64 GB USB C Flash Drive
AliExpress
This is a tiny one to replace my existing small, but bigger one that I currently have plugged into the car. I like how this one sits much lower than my other one, which also needs an adapter to plug into the USB C port.
Warning - I already received one of these from a third-party Wal-Mart seller, and it didn't work at all - it didn't even "snap" into the USB port on my computer or other devices. It would just fall out and have no connection at all. I'm hoping this one is better (meaning it actually works).

Crystal Controls
AliExpress
This is a Christmas gift from my wife that I am buying early because of the price reduction during the black Friday sales.

Crystal control and button protector film.
AliExpress

Door storage inserts
AliExpress
There are two for the front doors, and two for the back doors.

Door handle protector inserts
AliExpress
There are two for the front doors, and two for the back doors.
I'm getting these because I noticed some scratch marks on the bottom of my door handle area (I didn't even realize I ever touched that area).

BMW OEM Carbon Fiber door sills

Decided to stick with the black/red theme for my car instead of getting the silver colored ones - purely a color choice.
