I think its a good looking car, besides the rear. Both gen M2 rears now have been a definite negative for me.

I am pretty much set to keep the 1M forever!!
I don't find many new cars interesting at all. at some point I'll transition to electric or other and really like the concepts that Alpha Motor have been showing but will they make it?? not sure but I am intrigued by the retro Italian feel.

400/Fairlady Z Emira That's about it. I'm getting less and less enthused about cars packed with tech. For a daily driver or commuter. Fine. Not for a fun car. Interestingly this is something that is making me more interested in the new Z than I expected. The fact that it's based on such an old platform and doesn't sound like it's likely to be that technologically sophisticated seems like a plus to me if you're looking for a more pure experience.

+1 for the Emira
I tend to buy several generations older cars because I never like the direction new cars are going, but I'm more excited about the Emira than I have ever been over a new upcoming car. Lotus chassis, jaw dropping looks, good value, sounds great, usable interior. Take my money. I'm thinking to wait for an inevitable/imminent higher power version, and I'd rather not get a model from the first couple years, but good lord am I going to kick myself if they stop offering with a manual. I don't think Lotus could do that, right? Right. /self reassurance Last edited by ol doc gully; 07-27-2021 at 06:02 PM.. |

The Emira will be $75K + insane dealer mark-up.
I think you're talking about its big brother, the Evija. |

I am indeed afraid of what dealer markups will be, however... |

If you don't like it, doesn't mean that the design is poor. It's the first production car to be build on exoskeleton layout made out of pretty hard cold-rolled stainless-steel and with a battery pack as a structural element. Also Cybertruck will feature low coefficient of drag and should weight comparable to all aluminum F-150. I think the design is brilliant if they can make this happen...

The Lexus IS500 definitely has my attention as an M3-combatant. If they do a good -F/F Sport spec and the 8sp trans is comparable to the current gen G8X, I might consider it.

Emira is quite cool. Realistically I won't buy anything to replace the M2 or Carrera GTS. I mostly like cars that are end of life right now.. C63 with V8.. Alfa QV.

I'll only mention ones I can reasonably afford without messing up savings/401k contributions.
BRZ Fairlady Z Next-Gen STi - although details have been very light on this one. |

Emira Fairlady Z and that's about it. Everything is getting too ugly, too high tech, too automatic, and just too complex in general that most new cars don't do much for me.
