Also - great designs! I'm sure with the permits it won't be any different than building a house, you most likely will need a PE stamp off the drawings and so long as you are code compliant I'm sure you'd be fine. But do double check before starting building

You had mentioned possibly targeting buyers as well. How would financing impact a buyer for a non-traditional home? I presume that banks may not see these as great collateral?

I think it could be a spectacular alternative to stick homes. Decent finishes are what, about $160/ft for a traditional stick built home? You’re coming in at 25% the cost on a home that effectively doesn’t need maintenance comparatively.

I ask as a person that is considering land to build a home on. Would like to buy the land outright and finance the build. We’ve even talked of a steel home that would otherwise be intended as a large barn, but finish the interior as a large, open living space with studs to make a floor plan of any desire. You’ve got my gears turning on a really cool container home at a fraction of the cost.

Hey...it's been busy.

We have acquired the land for the first 10 homes. We have a line on the land for the next 35-50 which we can acquire from the city for a song-and-a-dance because it's a Go Zone and they are clamoring for investment to redevelop the area.

We are finalizing the plans for 3 basic designs as well as the engineering studies for the aforementioned. We have interest for a low-mid 7 figure investment from a single player in Florida that will cover the first 35 to 50 homes.

This is the boring paperwork/bureaucrat phase of the project.

I ran across a shipping container complex they are building in Nashville the other day while running a work errand. They are doing an affordable housing complex by the fairgrounds.

This is a growing trend. There is a huge complex in Atlanta going up, as well.

Actually, I have a small container home in Canada.
Built it last year. I had no skills or expertise in construction. Just watched all the youtube videos I could and talked to some guys who already did this.

But still, I messed up many times and spent much more money and time than expected.

However, one good decision I took which made my home livable is the use of new containers (Bought from a shipping container company in Toronto).
If any of you're trying to build a container home for the first time, I would recommend buying new containers. Using used ones will give you more trouble.

Thanks for the input! I already have new ones sourced. The organization provides new 40 foot containers for $2138USD +$220 delivery charge.

MKSixer how do you go about the production? Will you be installing everything in the containers on location or get it done in a warehouse and ship it out?

I'm asking because for the house that we're building (the house I sent you documents of) I was thinking about how some stuff like the drywall will hold up in transport...

On site. The builds are easy once the containers are emplaced and tied in to services. I also like the flexibility of changes on-the-fly with the first few homes.
