Around here lately -

Chargers/Challengers. Every Tom, Dick and Harry has one, due to FCA basically giving them away. Base model with some racing stripes makes some unsavory people do some pretty embarrassing stuff on the road.

Starting to see more and more used Teslas around, with the whole gamut of mods that would be popular in the high school parking lot.

Anymore, I just ignore everyone.

base corvette or boxster - mid life crisis. or someone who wants a sports car but doesn't know anything about them.

Chrysler 300c with tinted windows -- drug dealer

convertible/sunroof M3 - just a failure at life. (lmao just kidding.... but seriously)

Camaro/charger/mustang -- generic 'I got a raise and want a cool car' person. exceptions are the GT350 and ZL1 <- those are actually nice.

Official racing color of Germany. Give it a tinge of blue, like Porsche Polar Silver and I'm all in.

To be fair, I hate all "colors" between white and black that aren't silver though. Got no time for greys.

Says the guy who owns a black car...

I have nothing against black cars, but black/white/silver are all in the same category. Pot, meet kettle.

I've come to realize that I judge all cars/owners that aren't mine or something that I would drive. Bitches.....all of them.

One douche rear ended our family when we were in the X5. My mom has had to take months of PT for whiplash to her C-spine.

When it happened he got all defensive. "I have my daughter in the back seat!" Like what the fk does that mean? That's an excuse for ramming your rusted out 20 yr old Tahoe into us?

I do that too! Especially if it is not as nice as mine "mines better" and if it is nicer than mine "that looks like shit, I wouldn't have done it that way"

Humans are really strange creatures.

Funny side note here: I see the same guy every morning with in a 1/4 mile of the entrance to the work parking lot. We happened to be at the gas station at the same time one morning and I commented on how nice his Lexus is. He seemed to act as if his Lexus was better than my 335i, I mean, his IS newer......anyway; now when he sees me and I'm driving the same series Lexus but mine is newer. Due to his lack of tinted windows, I now relish in the smirks in my direction in the morning. He used to wave at me.

Sure there are some sweet silver Porsches and Merc sports cars purchased with the intent of having a historic racing color, but I'd guess this is 1% of all silver cars on the road.

Grey is even worse. Unless it's some type of special Nardo/Fashion Grey that color screams "I am a dull individual when it comes to automobiles."

Sure black is common but I wouldn't lump it in with grey/white/silver. Anybody choosing the black car on the lot knows that they will have to deal with more upkeep.

Black cars look way nicer too.

I see maybe one black car a month that looks cared for. The other half a million look like my four year old a Brillo pad had a little party.

I kept Jet Black swirl free for a few years and even gave the dumb Sapphire Black a few good details, but most owners treat black no differently than any other color.

I love a properly cared for black paint job. But like you said, most people don't know how to keep it looking nice.

My current DD is the first white car I've ever owned. Never had an interest in white, but this one is growing on me.

But I look at it as it's just a car to get me from point A to point B.

As for people on the street in my area in "sport cars"...you see a challenger or charger on every corner, tons of Mustang and Camaros....all mostly base optioned.

I also live within 30 minutes of the BMW plant in SC. You want to see a spectacle of people driving very stupid....just get on the interstate going towards the plant about 30 minutes before their work shift starts. It's ridiculous!

Fair point, knowing you'll have to deal with the upkeep and actually doing it are two separate things.

I'm one of the few who does the upkeep. Whenever I see the forecast will be dry for at least 3-4 days then I wash and shine my tires. I wax every several months...hoping to find a longer lasting product.

Thankfully I'm moving someplace where it never rains so keeping the car clean will be much easier.

Interesting as I never see Camaros and I live in metro Detroit. That thing is such a flop you don't even see them in the home market. Mustangs and especially Challengers are plenty common though.

Aren't you moving to LA? I lived near the beach and my car was filthy. Both Imola Red and Jet Black were always dirty. Between the morning marine layer and the stupid corrugated highways, it's hard to keep things clean there.

As for wax, look into synthetics and coatings. If you can polish and wax, you can do these easily. They last a heck of a lot longer.

Yes but more inland. I didn't know the pollution and what not can make your car filthy.

I've heard about those and will look into it. I enjoy waxing but [like most people] I'm pretty busy and can't be wasting time on it every couple months.
