Conor got his ass kicked boxing. They weren't in the octagon, so the rules there are irrelevant. He was getting his head bashed in, so the fight was called. There was plenty of time left for 2-3 more blows, but the fight was over.

Floyd literally goes 12 rounds almost every time he fights, so playing with McGregor for <10 rounds is actually a huge deviation from a typical Mayweather fight. That's why people sayin "Conor did great" are stupid and have never watched a Mayweather fight. Mayweather controlled the entire fight, exectued a plan, and knocked out a guy for the first time in 10 years. He's also 40 and looks like he took a nap all day when the fight was over.

Conor got worked and Floyd wasn't even trying, when he actually started trying he demolished him in just one round, the fight went exactly like most people thought it would minus the ones that bought into what the people that were trying to sell the fight were selling them on. If they fought again and Floyd goes at him from the start the fight will only last a round or two.

Yes. And thats because there are rules in boxing that refs must abide by. He wasn't the greatest ref, as he let a lot of the rabbit punches/hammer fists to the back of the head go. But he ultimately did what he should do, which is to protect a fighter from a potentially dangerous future outcome. Mcgregor did not fight back in that 9th round when Floyd was teeing off on his head. His face didn't show any damage? Ever think about brain damage/CTE?

Fans got an exciting fight, Mcgregor got out-classed, Floyd didn't look too good (but he fought a different style of fight than what we're accustomed to) so this could go both ways (as his goal was to stop Mcgregor), and both fighters got paid. Everybody won.

And as much as I hate Floyd as a boxer, I can't help but respect what he does. He fights to win, according to the rules of boxing. He doesn't have KO power as he has 'soft hands' as he's mentioned. He gets hit less, lands more punches than his opponent, and lets the judges hand him a win. After his last fight with Berto, Berto said something that was pretty interesting. He mentioned that Floyd never really expends energy (as he knows its going distance), and after a while he figured out that Floyd was making him expend more and more energy. And Floyd always knew how much time was left in each round, and was never breathing hard at all. As much as everyone hates him, he got to 49-0 by playing by the rules, as unexciting the journey may have been for boxing fans.

Again, have you ever watched a Mayweather fight? He literally goes 12 rounds almost every single time. Conor last 9 rounds and Floyd threw like 10 punches in the first 2.

Floyd probably wouldn't knock out anyone that fights for a living in 2-3 rounds. Just not what he does and he's the best fighter, maybe ever.

It's funny how the announcers were so shocked when Mcgregor actually landed a few jabs. Fighting in the pocket, even a world class fighter like Floyd will get hit, particularly when he's feeling out an opponent and gathering data. But all night, Mcgregor hit more air and gloves than Floyds face. And when he did hit Floyd when fighting inside, zero power, as all his power seems to be when he's fully extended (that straight left he throws). Im sure floyds team knew this, so they took the fight inside. And Floyd can take a punch, slip punches, so this fight was over before it began. Takes a lot of years to umderstand how to land shots with power in the pocket.

^ Two things are certain, that fight will never happen (for too many reasons to list) and Conor would not spend 75% of the fight in the same manner that Floyd spends a lot of his matches. In that cage there is no where to run.

There is nothing wrong with it, as it's smart boxing and obviously wins boxing matches. I think of Floyd as more of a survivor than a fighter. Regardless, at the end of the day he's 50-0 and won't suffer the same long term affects that a lot of other boxers do.

My guess is Floyd would be just another guy to hit the deck in Round 1. Not as quick as Aldo or some of Conor's early opponents, but I'd give him to around the 4 minute mark 😱
