I’ve been waiting for this one for a long time because I like these guys. However this review seems poor to me; not a word on the sound system, the rear seats, they did not compare it to competitors… Feels like they enjoyed the performance but they did not give much detail about it either. Feels like they didn’t talk much about comfort either.
They were among my favorite reviewers :-/ |

Has anyone seen any written US reviews that compare the two BMW i5 models and have actual range experiences?
I did read an Edmunds review of the M60 versionand it outperformed the ranges estimates, but not sure what type of driving they did. Have seen nothing on the 40 yet. Last edited by DBV1; 01-06-2024 at 08:57 AM.. |

I’m getting 2.8 miles per kWh in the area north of Seattle with temps in the upper 30’s to low 40’s. This next weekend will just be a lot of snow and temps in the teens. I probably won’t be driving.

Big kudos to you and your channel - as a relatively recent EV owner, your channel is by far the most informative and informed on EV tech. Somehow you’re always operating at 100% SOC yourself ;-) |

Kyle
Great job with your reviews, I find them very detailed, informative, well structured and honest! Which car would you recommend the 2024 BMW i5 edrive 40 with driver assistance professional and Premium packages w 20 inch non run flat all season tires or the 2023 Lucid Air Pure AWD base model w 19 inch all season tires. I live on Long Island and wondering if the 20 inch tires will hold up to the potholes. From a quality perspective would u say Lucid is behind BMW? Range and Driving experience would you say Lucid? Reliability? BMW? I currently have a 2021 BMW 540 in drive. Lucid is about $7341 more than the BMW but Lucid is AWD vs RWD. Is RWD risky in snow and ice? Thanks Again for all your reviews! Love your channel. |

ArenaEV just posted a good write up on their test of the i5 M60 that builds on and incorporates their very informative range test and range model.

I’m 48 and drive an F10. It only has 3 modes, which is 2 too many, and zero sound effects.
In fact, I’d say the thing I like least about the car are the modes. Stupid throttle pedal mapping and ridiculous angry red gauge cluster in “sport” mode. It’s tacky, and it’s nowhere near as bad as this new i5. The last thing I want to do in a daily driver is have to fiddle and fuss all the time. There should be one mode: BMW Sport Sedan Mode |

Don't get me wrong, I also think cars are getting a bit techy for my tastes, but if I was a manufacturer I would also want to make sure to cover all my bases and make sure every piece of tech is available for the customer segment that wants it. They are in the business of selling as many cars as they can make. Only thing we should ask is for that tech to be as unobstrusive as possible and easy to disable if not needed. Modes are like that; you can choose one and be settled for the life of the car. |

My F10 always switches back to Comfort mode regardless of how it was set when you power down, unless you code the car to do something different (I coded it to always have engine start/stop disabled for example). To me that's even dumber than having the car change the radio station from where you left it. |

I believe the UK car doesn’t allow you to make the speed limit monitor permanent. It’s the first thing I turned off in my car and it remained off.

Typically EU.
For example, we cannot switch off this ISA (Intelligent speed assistance) permanently, but deactivate it every time we drive by pressing the SET button on the steering wheel for 3 seconds. Crazy. https://road-safety-charter.ec.europ...ndatory-across |
