550e Ordering Info
Sorry to ask again, any update on order guides, pricing, etc?
Dealer had said info in April, but I have not heard anything. Current lease extended to beginning of August. Also, wonder if any of the promotions will be available. Thanks. |

My dealer "hopes" by late May. Sort of strange as the Canadian dealers have had the Order Guide for weeks. If there is no option for the DHP, or at least the IAS and adjustable dampers, I'm out.

Integral Active Steering and Adaptive Professional Suspensions are stock equipments in Europe, I would be surprised that you cannot have it even in option, in USA

By the way, BMW really is missing an opportunity by canceling the M560e, which would compete directly with the incoming Mercedes-AMG E53 PHEV. Shame.

Most likely what the US product planners are looking at is likely volume if offered as option, profitability if they do, and whether or not they have production capacity to support it. What we might want as individuals isn’t relevant as much as total volume, profitability and capacity. And whether or not all those meet BMW’s standards/thresholds to offer.

Yeah, the 5500e will no longer be an option for me if they don't offer the full suspension package in the US. |

The M560e would sort of be the halo car for the regular 5 series. M5 is in a league of its own. Shame, BMW is giving that market segment away to MB. Audi will be in a bit of product drought for a while. So the E53 has that performance lite category to itself. Lucky them. I will have to check it out.

Hi,
For those who have already received their 550th, production of mine is due to start in week 23 (early June) and the dealer has told me that delivery should then be possible from the end of June. How long did it take for you from the start of production? Thanks in advance for your answers! |

I had my 550e exactly 4 weeks from the start of production. I think I was lucky with an early UK shipping slot, prompt onward transit and my dealer likes to have cars on the road in 2 days and not 2 weeks like some. So your dealer could well be correct with the time estimate for Luxembourg
Enjoy the anticipation while waiting, it will absolutely be worth it. You have made a great choice. |

The lease on my 550i was supposed come due at the end of April, and I want to replace it with the 550e. The problem has been that there hasn’t been an announcement of the car, so it’s been a back and forth with financial because the car side hasn’t started taking orders yet. A couple of days ago, my sales rep called. They still don’t have anything official. He did take a deposit though, which should keep financial happy for a few more months.

Just got pricing/ordering for US. There is no M Sport option, and the 935 style wheels are standard, so it looks like the M Sport trim is standard.
Base Price at US PoE is $72,700. Destination and Handling is $1,175 which puts it at $73,875 base MSRP as far as I can tell. This is a little over $5K more than a base 540i with the M Sport package. |

Here you go. It says M Sport Suspension is standard. Nothing about adaptive suspension.

Yes, really unfortunate there’s no adaptive suspension. After 5 years with the 704, I swore I’d never get a non-adjustable one again. Well, maybe the extra weight will help smooth things out a bit. I’ll wait for the reviews.

Lack of the Adaptive Suspension Pro (includes rear steering) probably killed the 550e for me. But I will attempt a Hail Mary to see if it can be added as a special order. If not, I have some alternate ideas, but none include a G60. Might even look at the upcoming MB AMG E53. It is a PHEV, rear steering, etc. But, ugh, it is a MB!

Since videos about the 550e are rare, here's a new one that compares the i5 and the 550e:
It's in french and it's not a very detailed comparaison, but in essence what he says is that the i5 xDrive40 is a better deal but that the 550e is a bit better to drive (faster and a little bit lighter). He feels that they are close though. |
