It’s interesting what people’s thoughts are here , seem to have opinions on both sides

This seems to very much a “marmite” car
(Those in the U.K. will know what this)

Stunning car. Can potentially replace my M50, which I dearly love as well

G30 LCI on top exterior wise. For me its the second best 5 series ever designed, E39 being the best.

This G60 at first look doesn't have the wow factor for me. Yeah, you might wonder why I want a boring business sedan to wow me, but for me the 5 is BMW at its best. I expect it to make me feel some type of way when I look at it. The G60 does not. Hope that changes when I see one in person.

Interior looks nice, I like the steering wheel. Not a fan of the screen. Car companies do screens because its cheaper, not better.

The headlights seem to be a modern take on the E60 headlights. The "5" embossed on the sides look tacky.

Overall, looking forward to seeing what the new M5 looks like.

Yeh I can see that in the front . Don’t like the grand coupe treatment of the hofmeisyer kink and rear door.
Yeh that 5 on there looks tacky

I’ll stop writing here complaining now. No one is forcing me to buy one!

I'm sure they will sell. There are plenty of old-timers with bad taste in design.
This design change looks great on the new x5/x6 but not good on the new 5 series.
What is happening to bmw?

My thoughts exactly. I truly hope a new M550i is released. The M550i is easily one of the best performance bargains in the segment.

1000 lb weight penalty to go electric. The model S is closer to the weight of the ICE versions. Why can’t the Germans cut the fat on the battery pack?

For those who know (and I guess it applies to all cars with id8, id8.5), are there any physical buttons or knobs to change air con/ temperature settings?

I’ve watched an i5 review (Remove Before Race) and the amount of reach to get to the touchscreen can’t be good when driving, especially on bumpy, twisty roads.

Dynamically the double wishbone front suspension will be a big step up, interested to hear the driving reviews.

Watching the videos - the front overhang is even more pronounced than in the pictures.

Not sure why BMW went with FWD proportions here.

No, that’s all confined to the centre touch screen controls now.

Regardless of how we feel about certain design elements, I bet it’ll still sell very well around the world since there’s nothing too crazy about the overall look.

Overall not bad and really like the interior with pano option. The rear is a little meh and merc vibes. I will wait for the m560e and M5 Touring details.

The m550i with v8 will be tough to let go of.

I suspect the dual platform nature is hurting it here to be able to receive either batteries, ICE or PHEV will take its toll I guess.

Not saying one is better than the other but the i4 is looking like great value at this point - and I mean BMW really nailed that car, its purpose and as a package.

Speaking for myself, I would disagree. Yes, bulk of my commute is within city limits and I am lucky enough to be able to charge at home 90% of the time. However, I do travel up and down the East coast frequently and I’m usually looking to drive close to 300-350 miles for any given trip. Would I prefer to just leave home fully charged and not waste time charging/ contending for EV chargers? YES. Could I make the trip with one or two charging stops? SURE. Faced with this choice, I’ve used an IC vehicle for every single road trip since owning my EV. It’s the single reason I won’t switch to 100% EV use. If I had a vehicle to reliably give me near 350-400 miles of highway use, I would be seriously tempted to make the switch. RN, the Lucid is my only option— and it’s way too expensive, and is facing startup EV manufacturer type issues.

I’d love to hear from the community more on this.
