Literally none of the past page has anything to do with the BRZ. Start a new Alfa 4C thread. Or I can, and I'll have the mods separate the posts from this thread into a new one.

Or just delete the thread and ban OP.

Is there any way for this to be done? A petition or something sent to the mods?

If we can have the first Maserati production car in history to be powered by a diesel engine why can't we also get a Toyobaru powered by a boxer diesel engine?!
I've already explained to you why such an option makes ALL sorts of sense. And, it would be the first production driver's car in history to be powered by a diesel engine. What better sound bite would you need than this to sell it?! Last edited by GoingTooFast; 05-10-2013 at 09:50 AM.. |

The other aspect that makes all sorts of sense in a car is lightweight and I will always accolade here all the cars that share this characteristic with the Toyobaru and can be driven on a daily basis with the minimum comfort and practicality - the beautiful Alfa Romeo 4c is the late example of such concept taken to an higher extreme:

The closest thing that we have (not available in the US) to a driver's car powered by a diesel engine is the Mercedes SLK 250 CDI. In all honesty, I really thought about buying one but the problem is the weight is the same as the 1M - 1570 kg (1590 kg for the automatic gearbox version) - and it doesn't have a fully defeatable electronic traction/stability control, limited slip differential nor the 1M's ability to be thrown sideways in a sustained fashion. Also, its turn-in isn't particularly sharp as well which is a shame because the numbers are indeed VERY good but the SLK was never intended to be the best driver's car anyway... a real shame :
204 hp, 500 Nm of torque (the same torque as the 1M when in overboost mode); fuel consumption of 4,9l/100 km, only 128 g/km of CO2 emissions (automatic version); max speed: 243 km/h and 6.7 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h. PERFECT!!! The 250 SLK CDI is your best bet if you want to enjoy top-down fun with impressive fuel mileage... (now in different units) the emission rate is only 132 grams/4.66 oz of CO2 per km/.62 miles which gives the SLK an impressive 56.5 mpg with 0-62 mph in 6.7 seconds and 151 mph of max. speed. |

Now imagine that you could have the Toyobaru vert with a diesel boxer engine... that would be something, don't you think so?!

Here's some content that's actually relevant. These two guys performed a comparison between an FRS, S2000 (AP2), and RX-8 R3. They both had slightly differing opinions about ranking at the end of the test, but the bottom line is that the FRS is a good--almost great--car, but that it is over-hyped. To them, the decade-old S2000 is still the superior offering in terms of a pure driving experience; lighter, sharper, and more powerful.
Guy #1: 1st - S2000 2nd - FRS 3rd - RX8 Guy #2: 1st -S2000 2nd - RX8 3rd - FRS

Anyone that has ever driven both the Toyobaru and the S2000 hard, and I mean real HARD and not only cruising along some canyon roads , do know one thing for sure... the following quote is utter (min 17:33):
Quote:
While the RX-8 is indeed VERY predictable the S2000 is NOT, actually when driven hard is FAR from being predictable, you really need to be a good driver to master a stock S2000, specially the AP1 version, because it's very easy to go into snap oversteer. Did they even switch off the electronic stability control on this comparo since it's the S2000's AP2 version (the AP1 didn't even has such thing)?! Anyway, those guys don't mind to be wrong so... a stock S2000 is not predictable, the RX-8 is VERY predictable and the Toyobaru's 'middle name' is PREDICTABILLITY - better than any of the others in this regard AND better than anything else I know of, actually it is its BEST trait and why I love it so much! This other guy is also saying that the Golf GTI is a better car and the BMW E30 M3 is better still despite the slower lap time compared to the Toyobaru's. So, the Golf GTI is better because is faster but the E30 M3 is even better because of the handling BUT, on the other hand, the Toyobaru which is faster than the E30 M3 and has better handling than the Golf GTI and its handling is at least on pair with the M3 E30, if not better, isn't the best driver's car of the three... give me a break here!!!! There's the hood scoop for the air to air TMIC... now all is needed is a boxer diesel engine under the bonnet...
