The M3 touring will get OS8 on launch, that kinda implies to me the M3 will get OS8 then (or more likely in 7/22 with the 3er LCI) as well; but what about the M4 (the 4er will get it in 3/23)? I assume BMW won't let M3 and M4 have different cockpits, so the M4 will get OS8 in 7/22 (or 11/22?) as well?
My records show the infotainment updates of G8x will be aligned with their base models, so yeah, different cockpits for the 8 month period between the LCIs of G20 and G22/G23.

The tradition of not applying the LCI label to refreshed M cars will hold here.

Why don't they use the term LCI for M cars? Is that why the M8 is not officially an LCI? Or is it just too little of changes expected to be considered an LCI?

The 8er doesn't have an LCI (at least so far) in general I think.

Perhaps not to piss off customers who had just bought one... or the fact that it's coming so soon after the introduction. The whole "LCI" designation is a little silly anyway; many automakers make subtle--and sometimes not so subtle--updates to exteriors and/or interiors between major model overhauls.

Agree on LCI being silly, 1) 99% of customers have no clue and if they saw the term LCI in a press release it wouldn't matter to them. 2) what an LCI used to be is far more blurred than ever. Tech is evolving and consumers demand change be faster. BMW has done far more "running changes" off LCI cycle in recent years. The most obvious that come to mind is the 5 and x3 getting the id7 dashboard lite before lci to ensure they stayed aligned with the rest of the lineup. I think we will continue to see more changes in flight rather than waiting for an lci cycle going forward. With the lone exception being consistent interior/exterior design refresh cycles

BMW has surely never cared about this.

Customers don't know to be pissed off by the term LCI, assuming they even see that advertised as part of the new car. Most soccer moms and the like buying BMWs are not enthusiasts and don't follow what updates happen when. BMW and many other manufacturers do mid cycle improvements and we are 3 years into the 8 series so it's to be expected if you follow BMW at all. Sure there are small updates annually, but usually a slightly more moderate update halfway through the life cycle of the car which for some odd reason BMW calls LCI which as a term, life cycle impulse, certainly sounds dumb. My Jeep Cherokee got a nice improvement with an entirely redesigned headlight system 3 years or so into its life cycle but Jeep didn't decide to give it any dumb names.

ynguldyn On the M8s - I see that they are supposed to be upcontended starting with March builds. Are those car going to be 2023 models or still 22's?

Traditionally, a refresh in March triggers a model year change.

I can tell you the '23 M850 begins production in March, I'd assume the M8 would follow suit.

You said G05LCI will get TÜ3 engines, like G70.
Is there any chance to get the G70 Hybrid Set-up in the G05 LCI?
480hp for 45e?

Any hope of the non-full M version of the new 5er (G60/G61/G68) ending up with an 8-cyl (e.g., S68) engine? From the first page, it seems like the answer is "no".

Supposedly the Supra is getting a manual. Does that mean the Z4 will also get one?

Hi, compared to the SOP date, when can a car be ordered/expected launch be? Thinking about the 430ix GC specifically.

You are able to order 430i xDrive GC right away. No separate "launch" coming.
