My first action series, with my Canon 500mm mounted on my new Sony a9:
Shot 5 by David Stephens, on Flickr This is the last shot in a series of 5. If you want to see the full series, click on the image and it'll take you to Flickr, where you can see that.

I'm having troubles today, but I found out that the Metabones EF-to-E adaptor that I'm using hadn't been updated for the a9. I'll get that done later today and, hopefully, the problems will cure themselves. (It'll hunt inexplicably and if I cycle the system, it's okay for a while, but then starts misbehaving again). I didn't get any worthwhile shots today.
I love seeing the exposure in the EVF. There's no excuse for screwing up exposure. Hopefully I can fix the AF issues. (AF was the whole reason for trying it).

Good to hear Dave. Hopefully an updated adapter will do the trick. I've seen excellent results with the Sony 100-400 plus teleconverters, but I'd like to see some native big glass for it. The EVF is something I really love on my Fuji's for just the reason you state, being able to see the exact exposure.

Out practicing with the 6D and iPad Pro combo for the eclipse tomorrow. Camera and tripod were out in the sun. I was in my garage in the shade controlling the camera through the iPad. It worked well. 6D and 100-400 with 1.4x TC. Orion 4.57" solar filter. Fits perfectly over the hood of the 100-400.

No eclipse viewing here either. Nasty thunderstorm out there now.
Cool owl shot, Ed. Wish I could spot the owl who lives in my woods. I hear him all the time.

Not a picture I find technically perfect, but seeing my new ride in the dealer's parking lot, right off the transport, is making me kinda emotionnal.

eclipse first shot. by Josh, on Flickr This was the first shot I took. Handheld on my G7x with my eclipse glasses laying over the lense. Not the most 'professional' set up... |

We had a nasty thunderstorm that cleared out just before our peak, which was 95%. The sky still had high clouds right up until the very end of the eclipse. The last few shots were in nearly clear air, but most of it was shooting through clouds.

Nice one, DC. The next eclipse in 2024 will have totality just south of us. We'll be there for that one. Huge difference between totality and the 95% we got.

Denver had around 92%, so my wife and daughter could compare their experience to mine. It's a huge difference. Get to totality next time. Dave
