A little too lexus'y for me, but overall I like the proportions\volumes. If indeed 65k is the starting price, then they are in trouble, needs to be in the 40-50k range.

According to those in loop, the latter is correct. $40k range for the 4 banger and $50k range for the straight six.

Not much from LA. Just a confirmation of the badge / logo.
Also towards the end, around the 24:40 mark Jack Hollis said it will be “more affordable than people think”. |

It seems like this thing will never be unveiled. We saw a concept several years ago which pretty much gave away the design, so there's little to no element of surprise here.
It's like what GM did when the Camaro returned in 2010. They had teased the damn thing so much already that nobody cared when the car was finally unveiled. |

There's a profile in this month's Roundel with pictures of the Z4. The proportions (of the 'vert) look very similar to the Supra imaginations.
Even the 4-pot looks like it provides great performance. Article is probably worth a glance - hard to get to on the www, though. |

This isn't even out and the damn car is already outdated and old looking. It's been teased to the point of boredom. It's already a disappointment, they won't release the damn thing because it will just confirm it.
The Supra died in the 90s. Set your standards low people, the BRZ STI if released would shame this not to mention when BMW adds an M/// badge to their version, it will trash this. Toyota doesn't care about performance or sports cars, you're in denial if you believe so. Last edited by Blksnowflake; 12-12-2018 at 02:05 AM.. |

Very few people care anymore...and Toyota know it will flop. They are prolonging this to try every trick to generate excitement but the reality is that it's just not an exciting car in any way.

I have to agree. Everyone thats into cars knows its a worked over Z4.
Toyota should have change the name and gone for the BRZ market in the first place with this car instead of trying to share a limited market with the Z4. Quote:

Time will time, but pretty much all of the European slots have already been called for.

On a side note, this is what insider A70TTR shared with us awhile back. The chief engineer of the A80 actually wanted a more pure lightweight sports car. He wanted to bring the Supra back to it's root to the 2000GT. He had requested to develop a new bespoke platform for the A80, but was denied. The bean counters told him to use what was given, the Toyota Soarer (aka Lexus SC). So they made due with what they had. Yup, shorter in both overall length and wheelbase when compared to the A80. However, while have a shorting wheelbase than the 86, it is slightly longer overall. 5.5 inches longer than the 86 if I recall correctly. During the media test drive in Japan, Tada san did confirm that there was a prototype with a manual transmission. |

I just have to wonder what the market is for this car. I wish Toyota instead focused their efforts on a Japanese alternative to the Pony cars. They had to partner with BMW to make this financially viable, so I suppose it will have to be priced high.
They are basically banking on the Supra's brand equity. Nissan has done well with the GTR, but they also had more funds to make it a really good sports car. |

The fact that this car is coming to market without a manual is just mind boggling to me!
This is aimed at hard core enthusiasts as its a damn 2 seater with very limited useability and will serve as a weekend car for most. Has Toyota not seen the Manual take rates for BRZ/GT86 and M2????? I would be much more interested in this thing if it had a manual and unique engine in some way. |
