Both omega and breitling are amazing watches, and they both now have in house movements, so please don't compare to tag or seiko or tissot. Those brands are no where near omega and breitling. At the end of the day, get the one that u like better.
Breitling B01
MSRP $8960
Now for sale at $4500 or best offer (so a little more than 50% off)
The store is an AD for over 30 brands of higher end watches so no grey market.

There are definitely deals on www.watchrecon.com. You just have to use your head and do some digging when you find a watch you're interested in. I walked away from several deals because something just didn't feel right. I waited for the right deal and it did.

Yes but the op wants a NEW watch not a used one. For sure you can find 50% deals on used watches, but no way ur gonna get 50% at a store or AD for a new watch. Like you say though, the deals are out there, u just need to be careful when dealing with the grey market.

I would say get both and be over with it. I'd say get 1 dressy and 1 sports

Omega Seamaster either the Diver 300M or the Planet Ocean 42
Breitling Heritage SuperOcean

Breitling SuperOcean
Omega Aqua Terra Skyfall

People only care about losing value if they choose to flip it in 1 year or so.

Omega has several movements that are in house. The 9300 chronograph is a great movement which uses a coaxial design which will require less maintenance. The chrono dials are cool because a single dial will display elapsed hours and minutes. Breitling for the most part relies on ETA, but the B01 movement is nice.

Personally, I think the 9300 movement is fantastic and would be a good addition for most collections. The case on the PO Chrono has both brushed and polished edges which make it very elegant. Furthermore, it is one of the FEW watches where you can operate the pushers underneath water. I'm thinking of getting one myself to add to my Rolex SeaDweller, PAM 90, GO Navigator Big Date, and JLC MCD GMT.

Omega for me, everytime.

All Breitlings look horrid, just look like cheap chav tat, plus they are an expensive way to buy an ETA movement in most cases.

Nothing wrong with an ETA movement per se, but I'd rather buy something like a sensible priced ETA driven Steinhart rather than a Breitling.

Walked into the omega store the other day and the Aqua Terra Annual Calendar really caught my eye..

well specifically the Limited Edition piece - which is 18K gold.. and costs almost as much as my car... no wonder it caught my eye

Luckily they make a stainless steel version of the same watch for about a sixth of the price which I will liekly be pulling the trigger on very soon unless something else catches my eye..

I am also a big fan of Bvlgari but it seems in terms of timepieces the Omega is the way to go..

Good choice. I thought about getting one with the blue dial, but all my watches have dark-colored dials. I went with the 38.5mm Seamaster mid size chrono. It has the Omega 8500 movement and it's the only watch in my collection w/ a white dial. I wear it as a dress watch with dress shirts, suits, etc. Absolutely love it.

I own both (a Planet Ocean and a Navitimer). can't say that either brand is better than the other. their watch styles are so different. however, I will say that there are a lot more Breitlings that I want, and not really any other Omegas I want.

. This was back in early 1960's.

Besides that, all of our tax money funds several items that you never hear about. Can't complain about what you will never know about.

Breitling... I just bought a Transocean GMT it is 1 of 2000 total and 1 of 1000 with a black Face... has a 47 Jewel movement... can see the rubies in the picture of the back... 72 hour reserve power as well. Typically they are 40 hr. Got My wife the Breitling Galactic 36 with the Diamond Bezel.
