My gf was trying to persuade me that the 6MT was not the way to go as no one would be able to "move" my car....
After that, she wanted to learn how to drive a stick on my car. yeah... She just knows that there are two loves in my life, |

Let's split this up into 3 groups:
- non fanatics - semi fanatics - full fanatics If you fall into the 1st group, why not share your car with your girlfriend, wife, boyfriend, husband and friends? To these people, a car is a just a car. A ding is no big deal. If you fall into the 2nd group, it makes sense to share your car with people you trust to be careful. If something happens, it's not a big deal. If you fall into the 3rd group (like I do), the odds are that whoever you hand our keys to won't treat your car nearly as well as you do. They won't go to great lengths to get the best parking place. They won't avoid streets full of potholes. So if you fall into the 3rd group, I don't think you should hand your keys to anyone. We get into trouble on these forums when we try to generalize. 6MT or 6AT? Coupe or sedan? ZSP or no ZSP? What color? Leather or vinyl? Mod or don't mod? It all depends on our individual needs, wants and wallets. |

also, if something happens to your car while someone else is driving it, they don't care, so your stuck witht the problem. as in this case, if he has been going out with his girlfriend for a year or more, he should have let her take it around the neighborhood. and if it is a mt, then teach her how first someother day.

We all have our areas of high sensitivity.
For many of us, it's our cars. For others, it's their money. For others, it's their appearance. For others, it's something different. When you match up a fanatic with a non fanatic, you have a bad match. They think we're crazy. They'll put your car at much greater risk than you would, not on purpose, but because they can't relate to our position. |

im not sure if i agree with whats being said
i am very anal about my car. and id fall into the 3rd category for sure. but if my gf asked if she can drive it im not gonna say no. but i also wouldnt just hand the keys to her and let her off. first off, i prob wouldnt let her go without me. id also have to be sure of myself that im not making a mistake and she is trusted. so what if she hits a pothole, wtf doesnt? also it doesnt fucking matter where you park. you can park all the way across the damn lot and some ass will squeeze up against you. so these little examples listed are a bunch of bullshit. whether you or someone else is driving, anything can happen. i let my friends take it for a spin and thats all. if it was my gf wanting to drive it WITH ME in the car than thats completely fine. i know how id react anyway. ive let my own sisters drive the car and the entire time i feel a bit paranoid only because I AM NOT behind the wheel controlling it. you cant automatically start thinking theyll wreck the damn car...just my opinion

It really depends on how much you love the car. I'll let my wife drive my S-class but never the M3. I baby that car.

btw,
There is a strong correlation between the attractiveness of one's car and the attractiveness of a girl who successfully petitions to drive it.
