Suns is the better team, unfortunately for them the Lakers has just been out-playing them. You can't really argue about the refs though as the calls HAS been going both ways. At the end of regulation, Kobe got fouled on that last shot, twice. Diow (or was it bell) gave him a little shove when Kobe side-stepped him, and he got body contact from Thomas (or whoever that tried the block). That would've been an and-one situation. The refs are letting borderline plays go to the aggressor, and thats throughout the playoffs. Lakers got horrendous calls against them during their 3 championship runs, but they played through them. If the refs were to call every single fouls, Kobe would be on the freethrow line everytime he touches the ball. I think Sun's might win tonight, but they won't win the series.

You got insider password? Share. Besides, ESPN.com columnists are somewhat biased against LA teams/west coast teams (in all sports), just as Foxsport.com counterparts are usually for LA teams/west coast. This is widely known and also very evident in a lot of their articles, that's why a lot of people refuse to pay for insider when they started charging and went to deadspin.com.

I think in the off-season if they add one solid backup point and a taller sf, they can go far next season. Like Shane Battier would be a good pickup.

timezerofive i like your attitude, and haters will always be haters.
Even Bill Simmons from ESPN, a notorious Kobe basher, can't deny how great this Kobe has been. Bill Simmons even voted Kobe for MVP. Quote:

As a totally impartial ny knicks fan for the past 14 years
i must say that Steve Nash got RAPED in those final moments and STILL managed to call time out. Bennet "rabbit-ears" salvatore is not one of the league's finest ref's. my impartial prediction based on watching the entire season: Suns in 7.

Keep calling everyone who dont agree with you 'haters' if it helps you sleep at night, but the proof is in the pudding. While we keep showing proof in stats/flaws in his game/analysis, all you've done is defend by saying numbers dont mean anything andcome back with the player has 'INTANGIBLES'. Like your comments about DEFENSE winning championships, I'll give you this line: NUMBERS win games.
Throw some numbers at me or something, not just, 'oh, do you see how bad they look w/o him on the floor' (in which ive answered with a) the second quarter example, b)an article from the number-crunching guru of ESPN that shows otherwise). Those arguments are of INTANGIBLES too often used by casual fans who dont know the game too well, and are too much of a cliche. Im done "HATING" on Kobe. HAHAH. But, enjoy his prime while you can, because when King James sits on his throne atop the NBA in a couple years, he aint stepping off. Dont hurt yourself jumping off the Kobe bandwagon. We are all witnesses. |

There's really no point in arguing. Everyone is going to think their own way. They're all opinions. Even the MVP award is an opinion on who the voters think is the most valuable player. You can't prove one thing or the other.

Sure, forget the intangibles, I'll throw some numbers your way. 81 points in a game that resulted in a blowout W - 2nd higest in the 60 years history of NBA. Only one person has scored more in the entire history of the NBA. 62 points in 3 quarters against the 2nd highest ranked team in the west, Dallas, that resulted in a blowout W. 35.4 ppg avg in the regular season that resulted in the Lakers actually making the playoffs solid in number 7 position. 3 NBA championship rings, in a row. Ranked third in assist in the playoffs just behind Steve Nash and Andre Miller, and ranked third in scoring behind Dirk Nowitzki and Bonzi Wells. You're the one that chose to ignore these "numbers" outright and go into the "intangibles" of the flow of the game, and playing in the constrcut of the offense...etc.
Lakers in 6, and go ahead and bring on Bell, don't suspend him. He's been holding kobe all series long, no point suspending him now.

I think if Kobe was very humble, signs autographs more frequently, smiles more often, take off his pompous smirks that he sport 99.9% of the time, avoided banging other chicks who have a high risk of accusing him of rape, and basically plays with the spirit of Magic Johnson - more fans across the country would love him.
But, in reality, he's quite pompous with an ego bigger than the Himalayas and doesn't give much of a damn about his fans - you ever met him in real life? He's a real ass - while Shaq, on the other hand, I respect him because one of my homies during highschool worked at a shoe store and Shaq gave him a bill as a tip just for the hell of it. My other friend saw Kobe in Sacramento during a Kings vs Lakers game as he was walking out of a mall and she said, "Hey, Kobe!" and all he did was look the other way and walked on with his posse. So even if he scores a lot and has good stats, it's like watching Hitler play in the NBA with good stats. Nobody will give a damn.

I really don't care too much about Kobe's off court personal demeanor. Important as that is, I watch basketball just for basketball alone. Someone makes a brilliant play, I marvel, even if it's on the opponent's team. If the Suns wasn't playing against the Lakers I would be cheering for them as they are an enjoyable team to watch. If the Clippers weren't going to be playing the Lakers, I would cheer for THEM as they are my second favorite team. But when it comes down to it, I've always been a Laker fan, I'm loyal to them no matter how ridiculous that might seem to others. I'm a Laker fan when they're down and doesn't make the playoffs, and I'm a Laker fan when they are on top of the NBA. And of course I will be cheering for the best player on the Lakers team, who just so happen to be the best player in the league right now. So it doesn't matter how this or the next series goes, like I said earlier, it's a great time to be a Lakers and a Kobe fan. If you can't join in on the fun, that's too bad for you.
And I never said the Lakers are THAT good, I even said Suns IS a better team, but they got out-played by the Lakers the first 4 games, just as they out-played the Lakers in game 5. But they'll be finishing them in game 6. As far as the Clippers series goes, they tied the series 2-2 in regular season when it was Kobe alone, it will be a fun series to watch now.

It's going to be an interesting game 6. Both teams are obviously going to play a hard physical game. Here is a quote I found. I think it sums up game 6
"We're going back home, they'll have to drive on us there … and if that's the way they want to play, we can play like we're in the park," said Lamar Odom. |
