The pricing needs to drastically come down on the individual paints options!

LOVE the Grigio Telesto paint color!

To each his own, and that's the whole point. But I do not think the Ferrari Red and British Racing Green will hold up over time not even just a couple years. They look very plastic, almost like plastic toys. Some colors just don't work on the BMW platform.

Ferrari Red looks great on Ferraris and British Racing Green works for British cars, I feel like these two colors look silly on anything else. Not sure exactly why that is, that's just my observation as a Designer.

It would be like seeing a Coke can in lime green, and a Pepsi can in all-red. It just doesn't seem right. It's like if the McDonald's logo went from their red and yellow color scheme to now a pink and green logo. Maybe it's being pre-programmed. But colors are very powerful and they pull on your emotions, and instantly create a reaction.

But for me personally it's all about the anti-bling, Triple Frozen Black, stealthed out.

With that said I think it's cool that BMW is willing to offer "Ferrari Red" to the Ferrari fans but prefer driving a German engineered BMW.

I was going to mention primer until I saw you'd got there first. Absolutely terrible colour.

Tell me about........this obsession with umpteen shades of monochrome with virtually no actual colour options was my massive gripe when ordering my X5 18 months ago. I was even prepared to pay for the extra Individual option, but 3 of the 4 colours were just yet another 2 shades of black and another one of silver

FFS BMW, lets have some proper colour choices again, as its like living in the film set of an old black n white movie, and its bloody depressing.

Nice to see the display.
It could be the auto-white balance on the camera.
I have two Canon 5D's, and the auto white balance sometimes doesn't like certain shades of green in certain lighting conditions, meaning, it will throw off the actual color being photographed. Use manual white balance, and yes I did just digress.

I've seen some metallic BRG and that's not a good look for BRG.

Can I just say how i think it's bullshit that buyers have to pay the prices they do just to get some color. What does an indi color cost now, 5K? I'm sorry but some of these colors should be standard. Id love to see Austin yellow should be replaced with either dakar or speed yellow. The M5/6 color palette looks like the funeral wardrobe except for sahkir or the blues. That red should definitely be added too. Thee already enough grey.
I love the old non metallic BMW red.
It used to be a no cost base color, like black or white.

Melbourne red is nice. My 335i Msport was in MR.
But, if the flat red were still offered I would have picked that with no question.
My current 340i is the ever present and quite nice BMW silver.

BMW's current 3 series colors are quite boring, because they have been around for years with only slight shade differences. How many versions of metallic black or dark gray does one really need to "choose" from?

That gray does indeed look like primer in some shots.
And even with the better white balanced photos it's still not a color I would pick.
But I understand why some like it, as we have our own preferences.

Could be the camera... I grew up in the UK and that is really flat looking. Jaguar does a much better job!

I'm as guilty as anyone, but I'm surprised nobody captured any images of the stunning blue M5 that was down where you pick up the Press Day credentials. Looked great!

Where are the deep metallics, and semi-pearlescent paints that would *actually* be uncommon?

Wow. Thank you. Can't dispute that!

I've officially eliminated British Racing Green from my list of color choices when my allocation comes up. That looks horrible in those pics. UGH!
They must have changed the formula or had a color blind painter that day. That has way too much blue in it. BRG has always had black or yellow hues to it traditionally.
So, I'm here at the NY Auto Show and still can't believe the BRG on the M6 is actually BRG, even looking with my own eyes and seeing the stamp on the car.

I just used the VIN decoder and it is indeed British Racing Green. Now I'm sure I'm not getting that when my allocation comes up. I will never, ever own a car that may look that way in any lighting. UGH! Such a disappointment. It looks terrible!

In other news, the M5 First Edition Frozen Red looks 1,000x better in person, as do the all black wheels.

I went today. Those poor cars will need some TLC before sold. People were ravaging them. The V12, M5 and Green M6 were glorious.

As someone with black car and seeing that it has white primer - AND also as someone who does a bit of painting for hobby -
you are a bit wrong here I think. The primer color is usually used to make the main coat appear as intended.

Base coat is conditional on top coat used and what color effect you want to achieve. A silver paint over matte black, matte white, and gloss black primer will yield you different paint look. More likely they mix up a paint, and then pick a primer that makes it look as intended and doesnt detract. Gray is universal but white and black are usually picked based on color selected. I think gray is for white, white is for black, gray or pink is for red, and so on.

BRG is mostly known on older cars. That had no clear coat. Color always looked a tad dull. Modern BRG can be a play on color of the old, with clearcoats, a bit more of different shades etc. I think this BRG we see here is a play on battleship gray gloss paint we see now used a lot by Audi. It is just with a bit of dark olive in it. Disconnect from the BRG nomenclature and you have just a green M6 GC. May be then it is not so jarring.

And I agree - with a black car all lines are hidden, and original BRG was almost black green. The F11 I have is first and last black car I wanna own I think, too much hassle and Msport trim is all hidden.

Individual should be used to respect the car and its status. Sure go wild on an M car. But a 7er should be done in taste to reflect the status of the vehicle.
Having a 7er in Fire Orange does not make the vehicle stand out for the right reasons.

Respectfully, I share a different opinion. Individual should be used to respect the owner and his/her status. The vehicle exists to support the driver, not the other way around.
