2009 IS350 - wished I had either saved up longer for the Isf or gotten a 335i, but was too scared to deal with the HPFP issues. That said I now own two N54 cars.

My 2014 Ferrari F12
Probably one of my favorite cars Ive ever owned but when it came time for me to step up to a newer toy, I took a 100k loss on that car, AFTER ONE YEAR! Atleast they compensated by giving me a killer deal on my speciale. LOL

I'm starting to regret the E90 M3!
Maintenance costs are starting to pile up. Under warranty I had the throttle actuators done and rear diff (thank God) Just replaced one O2 sensor at the Stealership, $1064.12 CAN Now there's stil 3 more ... Fun car, but for a 2011; that's a bit much for maintenance...wish they made them like they used too Looking seriously at the Merc now... |

makes no sense buying new then keeping it past warranty. Either save the depreciation or save the repair bills, don't cop both.

Ironically, while I was bitching to the service rep about the bill, he mentioned he has a 2013 M5...
I guess these guys get a commission? |

I regretted buying underpowered and underwhelming boring cars for many years, now I don't have regrets, just lots of spirited driving and owning just about anyone who tries to race me.

I was 17 years old and ran across a super rare AWD 1.6L Turbo "Handling Tuned by Lotus" 1991 Isuzu Impulse RS. The car had rear wheel steering and was a little pocket rocket. Found it sitting in the back lot of a local shady car dealer. The guy said the clutch was burnt out, but when it runs "it runs like a raped date!". (errrrrr... is that supposed to be good?). Needless to say, I had to buy it and drove off in it with my pocket $500 lighter.
Fast forward, I discovered that whole raped date thing was not a term of endearment. The car was a dumpster fire. The new clutch took 6 months to arrive due to rarity of the car. Tons of electrical gremlins that forced you to restart the car every 3-4 minutes while driving. The suspension was crap. The tires were bald. But being a young 17 y.o. my knowledge of tuning was limited, so we decided to crank up the boost with a manual boost controller (with no other mods or tuning, ha!). I remember drag racing an E46 M3 from a red light and pulling away from him. Victory. Unfortunately that victory was short lived. A week later, while in a parking lot going around a turn the bald front tires slid on the wet seal coated asphalt and slid right into a curb. The drivers side wheel and suspension were ruined. I put the car up on eBay, and sold it in 2 hours for $2k to some guy who drove 6 hours down to pick it up. It was by far the worst car I've ever owned, but at least I made a few bucks off of it |

How do all of you guys afford these changes/trades? I would imagine each change cost a minimum of $10,000 loss. I am currently thinking of trading my 340i xdrive which I am almost certain to be taking a $10,000 hit less than 9 months and 7,800 out of the dealer...
Can't really understand how to trade without taking a major hit... |

Read my first quote - some people just don't care. Whether you are a BOZ like Nick or you are some poor chap who is bad with finances. People just spend money and think, "I'll just make more to pay for it or rob Peter to pay Paul." |

I once thought that 600whp was a good decision in a FWD car (Mazdaspeed3). Never again. Putting my efforts towards my 135 now.

B8 Audi RS5. The love affair wore off after a month. Left an E92 M3 to get the RS5. The Audi was downright boring. I posted a write up about 2 ears ago so I will spare everyone the time. It's been 4 years and still regret the decision. I never should have sold the M3.

2016 Mustang GT, (in Dec 2015) I hated it 6months into it, i have a almost 600whp e90 335i and the mustang was slow, and uncomfortable. Recently traded it in for 2013 X5M and dont regret it at all. Two quick bimmers, nothing wrong with that. I wanted an M5 but with 2 kids, and two big dogs the X5M was the way to go

Mercedes A Class (current model).
Lovely to drive, amazing on corners, but sit on a smooth motorway and the rattles would start - driver's door, under the steering wheel, somewhere in the back, near the speedo, glove compartment. The list went on and on. Sold after 2 years, lost a stack in depreciation. Dreadful customer service from Mercedes. Low point was when they told my wife that 'it's just a characteristic of the car'. Never again. |

Yes... trading in my e92 335i for a 135i... the E92 was traded due to maintenance issues... wish I had just instead fixed it as nearly everything about the 335i was better.
1) It looked better 2) Had a better suspension, balance and better body stability 3) kept value slightly better 4) was more comfortable and had a much better stereo Everything across the board about the 3 was better... and I just could never love the 1 like the 3. The other was my Mazdaspeed3 which was nearly undriveable due to the torque steer and fwd chassis. |
