1961 VW ragtop
Bought it for $650. Sold it for $600. Drove the wheels off it for 100,000 miles in the meantime. Pretty good depreciation cost per mile i'd say. Now I look at crash videos of these cars and glad I never got into an accident! When it rained heavily the front tires would hydroplane. I had to apply brakes during a turn or the car would want to go straight. Now THAT is steering feel and connection with the road |

This was my first baby.. 2005 Acura TL. I spent a good chunk of my internship money on her back then.
My sister drives the car now.. during that time period, she got into 2-3 accidents with 1 being a major one -- enough to get a salvage title. Had her fixed up and she recently had a timing belt snap while my sister was driving the car (~170K miles). Thought the engine was done.. my mechanic threw on a new belt and to our surprise, the engine started right up. Had him service the supporting parts (water pump, tensioners, etc) and now she's back to normal. Definitely a fighter.. I hope she hits at least 200K.

Mine was my moms old Volvo. Luckily, my mom is cool and it was a 850 turbo wagon. It was fast with plenty of torque steer and it had a stiff suspension an great brakes. Total sleeper didn't realize how great a car it was at the time.

1973 Mercury Montego
1973 Mercury Montego. Huge V8. It idled at 60 MPH. Had it to 120 like a complete idiot. When you floored it you could literally see the gas gauge needle move. Put 21 people in it for the homecoming car stuff. Needless to say my grade won.

That car, a Malibu, was so not what I wanted, but it was what my parents bought for me, and so it's what I drove. I wanted a Carmaro, Corvette, or Firebird. In spite of my initial misgivings, I had some great times and travels with that car. I kept it until I bought a car with my own money. The car I bought was a 1989 Accord Coupe. I absolutely loved my Accord, except for the beige interior. Had it not been "liberated from my tyranny" in 1993, I quite possibly may never have bought a BMW. At the very least, my first BMW would have been an E46 rather than an E36. If there's any one thing that's consistent about my taste in cars, it's that I am not "into" sedans. I like coupes. Period. All the best.
