In my case (Poland), whole action took less than 1 week, but it's not fixed though. They just updated the software to be more precise about recognizing issue with this brake part and asked me to sign a document that I'm aware of this issue and will come to the dealer ASAP after the warning would rise up. After that, my car was ready to pick up so I drove it home.

So far, no issues while driving. Excitement outweighs my fears, but I'm not feeling 100% safe and comfortable about giving this car to my wife, as some previously said.

Will see wether they would call me on some day for changing this part once it's available or would they wait until warning actually shows up on the screen.

Will new builds be affected by the recall or it is safe to assume new builds will have these already taken care of?

New builds should be fine.

From literature I’ve seen, I think new builds that started in the last week or two are fine.

Any updated info on this matter? Have a deposit on a 25, and my dealer has no new info.

Follow these threads. There are quite a few of us that are scheduled to build next week. We will be posting updates as we go, I'm sure.

My car was built 2 days ago, and VIN is updated/uploaded in all the databases. I've checked on the BMW website and confirmed with my sales guy at the dealership - no need to worry. We can assume that newly built cars don't have that problem.

I got mine back yesterday. As expected the failure was the part that is recalled, however according to BMW, they don’t have a replacement part and have no ETA on one yet at least for the i5 (I saw the communication with BMW). I was given two options. Rental car from enterprise or drive at my own risk. I’m still hoping they will have something in the next couple of weeks.

Just got off the phone with my dealer. He will rebuild me a new car, exact same build. He's not sure which will be deliverable first, the car thats been waiting at the port of NY for 3 weeks or a new build. As my car depreciates daily. So frustrating

You guys need to start canceling orders or demanding large discounts. If BMW isn’t going to commit to fixing this in a timely fashion then they need to start having it hit them in the pocketbooks. The fact this has been going on for months tells me this wasn’t really a priority for them.

Hi guys, I’m in the UK and impacted by the stop sale. I should have collected the car tomorrow. Can someone share a link with me to see if my car is impacted please? I have a VIN. Thanks

Your dealer will know for sure but you can try the Austrian site, that has been fairly accurate throughout this situation.

Thanks - that link tells me no recalls and set dealership tells me it’s affected and can’t deliver!! The lack of communication from BMW is gob-smacking!

My dealer claimed that the information on the recall site is not as up-to-date as what they have.

That is correct. Their system is definitive, the recall sites are maybe's.

FYI. The Austrian site does not seem to be accurate. I have a car with production date in July sitting in the dealer lot with the stop sale that is confirmed to be affected by the recall (both BMW USA, and NHTSA shows the recall) and the Austrian site says there are no recalls in that vehicle.

Or maybe Austrian site only applies to vehicles in Europe?

Thanks - is the NHTSA site just for the US? I’m in the UK, so if I can use it, could you send me the URL please? Thanks

NHTSA stands for National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and is part of the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Parts will be arriving dealerships within the next few days. Software needs to be updated as well, with that patch coming through Sept 19th.

Sept 19th+ will be when most cars will be available.

I'm bringing my car into the shop next week to get a sun visor replaced. I asked them if they can take care of the open recalls at the same time and they said yes, so hopefully they have the parts for the brake thing, and the steering wheel sensor thing - those are the two recalls on my car right now.
