Exactly that was the gist in my previous response. We can safely say that the average American household income has remained stagnant for well over 50 years. Pretty alarming statistic if you ask me.

Looking at these adds make one think people were dumber in old times. I mean come on. This is overt to the point of cringy. Want the girl, get the car, be the real manly man.

But then I turn on the TV and there's the add for the newest V8 monster truck, with the very manly voice that tells you that to be a man you ---need--- that truck that can tow 5 tons of rubbish and can go offroad, even though you'll use it 100% for suburban commute on the clogged interstate and do 5 mpg doing so, but in style, I guess. But hey, what abuot these 4 2x4 you brought back from home depot last year!!?? (hint, they fit in a crossover just fine). So it may turn out that we are not that much smarter finally.

I have an infatuation with sexy cars - with "hips" and curves (ala 911 and even my M4 from certain angles). I think those old ads were probably written for personalities like mine even tho the cars were boxes on wheels. LOL. Love it!
