no ICE review so far? with charging infrastructure in NYC I'm still at least a good 5 years away (if not more...) from going electric. Also if I'm going electric, definitely waiting for dedicated platform so I don't have an transmission tunnel in electric car or no frunk

I’m not sure why people want a frunk. I don’t use all the trunk space I have now, so it would just be useless. My husband has one in his Lightning but since it doesn’t have a trunk, it makes sense for groceries. The transmission tunnel doesn’t bother me, because I’m never in the back seat. I looked at a Lucid which was just flat across the rear floor boards. It’s good for rear passengers with large feet.

I’m surprised your infrastructure is bad. It’s very good in the Seattle metro area where I live. I thought all major cities had a decent charging network.

Frunk is more of a "why wouldn't I have one", as to transmission tunnel, yes it wouldn't affect me, but another "why should it be there", I'm sure backseat passenger would appreciate.

with regard to charging, I think a lot people park in NYC in garage that's not connect to their building (if in Manhattan, I wouldn't bother street parking in Manhattan, Brooklyn/Queens are different story).

In my case, my garage does have dedicated charge station but it's one of those once you full charge you have to move type of thing. I only drive my car on the weekend (and sometimes once every two weekend), I just can't think of stand there until things are fully charged then move again. My garage is like 8 minuets walking from my apartment too

I know there are a few guys with electric car, probably should talk to them on how they manage it (I see a few Tesla, a few Lucid, one Rivian, two i4 near by).

( faster, more room in the back, way way better range, better cargo space, reliable charging infrastructure, having a useful frunk), and believe me, most of people don’t care about the panel gaps!
BMW (and the rest of Germans) have to step up their game if they want compete with tesla. Just look at tesla sales numbers.
As an EV the i5 disappoints

My ICE car takes premium fuel at $5 gallon. My electricity is under 11 cents per gallon. Getting ready to retire on a fixed income. The electricity is a publicly owned utility, not for profit so rates won’t increase. Can’t say the same for gasoline. No maintenance to worry about. Won’t be driving long distances ever. Plus they are way more fun to drive.

Until your utility decides to “invest” in renewables, then your rates will go up as the public utility decides to transfer your dollars to private companies.

Well we have already been 85% hydroelectric for at least the last several decades. 10% is based on other existing renewables. I’m not worried. We have one of the lowest rates in the nation.

Which state/province?

If that’s the case you’re good to go! A friend in California was telling me they’re paying over $0.80/kWh on their peak rate! That’s what happens when wind and solar get implemented on the premise of making things cheaper…

Also, $0.11/gallon or kWh?

I am in Washington in Snohomish County, which is one county above King where Seattle is located. We have lower tax rates, lower electricity, lower housing costs, etc. We pay 10.5 cents per kWh at any time day or night. Gasoline is high because we pay a carbon tax and we are also gouged by the oil companies because of our carbon neutral policies. My husband bought a Lightning and in 5 months he’s put on 9,000 miles and we paid about $300 in electricity for charging it. His previous vehicle got 11 mpg and we paid over $5 per gallon. My current car is a Jaguar that requires premium fuel.

Gotta love politics… up here in Commuda, er, Canada, we’re into the carbon tax BS too. $5/gal is pretty much what we’re paying for regular old 87 octane too. If our Feds get their way they won’t stop until that ridiculous tax is quadrupled.

"I'm willing to even say this: I don't think there's a more complete car on sale today than this new BMW i5 M60 . . . this car is absolutely sensational."

"This is more comfortable than a Model S, and in terms of driving dynamics, there's no competition. That really feels like a boat compared to this car."
