I have a '24 540 and while it is not slouchy I wouldn't call it quick either. I'd be surprised if 0-60 is 4.0 seconds.
You have to put it in Launch mode to get that time. You can't just floor it from a stop light and get 4.0 seconds. The 5-60 time is because of this too.

I have yet to see any 540i trims at any of the dealerships near me. I don’t know how informed the SAs are but I asked one about seeing one and he said they haven’t had any and that he didn’t think they were coming to the U.S. market. He said that I’d probably have to special order one. I am pretty skeptical as if this is true or why but I haven’t any as of yet.

Sounds like a lazy SA or uninformed SA. There’s just no way that’s accurate.

Had two G30s 540 (pre and post LCI) totaling almost 7 years in G30. My current G60 feels faster than the two previous G30s I had.

No idea what the real world numbers are or whether C&D was off.

I just checked my two local dealer websites. There’s a bunch of 2024 540i’s sitting around, and a couple of 2025’s in transit. You should go to another dealer if this one can’t be bothered to take your money and give you a car.

There aren’t many 540i compared to the 530i and i5 in my area, but they do exist. Probably need to shop around.

Completely untrue. As far as I’ve heard the 540 is only being offered in the United States. I think he wants to sell you a 530 and is willing to lie to make it happen. Go on Car Edge.com and do a search for 24 or 25, 540’s. Hundreds will pop up.

If you go online to the configurator, and configure a car, then enter your ZIP code, they will show you vehicles nearby that match, or approximately match the car you have configured. I agree with Todd. I think he would rather sell you something on the lot. He could go onto the registry and see who has a 540 closest to you. I test drove a 2024 540i in Concord, CA in May, before I placed my custom order.

If only it looked like a BMW. Where’s the hoffmeister kink? What’s with the obsession on these light up grille surrounds? They are so tacky.

Like the 0-60 is only .1 seconds slower to 60 and .4 seconds slower to the quarter mile than the G30 M550i.

Quite frankly I wouldn't be surprised if the new B58 measurement on a dyno is comparable to the new Stellantis high-output inline 6 that they claim makes some 530 HP. Except this one can net you fuel economy comparable to a Camry unlike the Stellantis gas guzzler.
Personally the S58 is a downgrade in every metric except outright power. It doesn’t sound as good to me, doesn’t get nearly as good fuel economy, has so much lag and falls flat on its face until it’s spinning around 3500rpm (this I don’t get since it has twin-turbochargers… they should have used a small turbo for immediate low end shove and a large turbo for the upper range to redline). With a tune a B58 can make 475-500HP and still return >35MPG on the highway at 80MPH. To me the B58 is BMW’s best engine they’ve ever made. It’s not the most powerful, but it has been so much more reliable than the N54 or N55 and delivers fuel economy that Volvos with their anemic 2.0T I4 can’t even dream of hitting. An X5 40i is more fuel efficient than a Volvo XC90 B6 AWD even though it’s got nearly 100HP more and 50% more displacement.

No, it’s only scheduled for release in the United States.

Good question. For now the 540 is listed as USA only. I have read that the 540 used to be the best seller in Canada for the G30. Yet why not sell the G60 540i there as well. Maybe it's just for now and will be allowed later in the year. Not sure for the UK, or Australia market, because of the Right-Hand-Drive. And there are no Right hand drive 540's being produced right now for ANY market. But I believe for Canada, an enterprising individual could just go down to the US, buy a 540, and then import it to Canada as long as it meets Canadian requirements (See Link Below). I don't think there is much difference between US Spec and Canadian Spec cars. I'm not sure what the cost of importing and registering would be.

I believe I read that the 520d is available in the UK as well. I don't know if the 540d is coming to the UK or not. The 520i and 530i have the same engine. I believe it's the tuning and maybe options that change. How many HP is the 520 showing for the UK? if it's 255, then it's the same and its only Base trim level and available options that change.

In Spain a fully optioned out 520i/d can sell for upwards of 100K Euros including VAT.
