When the nurse was giving me the cognitive test after my CABG she asked me what day it was. Since after heart surgery they have you wake-up naturally; they don't reverse the affects of the anesthesia. I said Sunday and she said it was Monday. I then told her I was retired and barely knew the month, let alone the day!

Congratulations on both counts!!! ... I`m 58, and I have no plans to retire anytime soon. I don`t work more than 4 days a week .
My wife is 60 and she already told me a couple of years ago that she is retiring at 62

You start using more cuss words when you are working around the house.

The other day I was putting together an Ikea bed, cussing up a storm trying to
align the side boards and center boards to the screw heads to lock down the boards.

My wife asked me (she always does when I am cussing), why am I cussing so
much. Anyone who has put together certain Ikea furniture knows that those
diagram only instructions can have you using the wrong screws or putting
things together on the wrong side, causing you to backtrack.

I told her that the Ikea instructions show that one is to cuss during
assembly.

I know exactly what you mean. I'm in the process of putting together an Ikea kitchen right now. One of the diagrams had me baffled so bad that I drove to Ikea to ask them. It had three "experts" baffled as well. The eventual outcome??? They told me that the instruction booklet was "generic and didn't correlate to (my) situation".

Been that way for me to. Used to grab some tools and supplies I thought I will need for the project at hand.

Now, it's back and forth a number of times to the basement or garage to grab additional tools or supplies.

For instance. Saturday afternoon go outside with temps in the upper 20's, low 30's to fix the mailbox knocked loose from snow plow. Mailbox box is attached to a mounting plate with four breakaway standoffs. Simple fix right, remove eight screws, four each side holding mailbox to mounting plate, remove mailbox, insert four new screws thru mounting plate to mailbox post. Yeah right, last screw, I managed to strip head of screw. Manage to back the screw out except the last portion of the screw, it gets twisted up in the plastic mount and I can't get it spin out of the plastic.
Back into the house, new screw and a pair of vice grips to yank the damn screw out.

Had a few choice cuss words questioning my intelligence while this was going on. It was bad enough when the screw head stripped, but when it was stuck in the plastic and wouldn't come out, I really questioned myself.

Did manage to get everything back together.

Guess better planning is at hand.

Note to self: second time you had to do this repair, don't buy a new mount and use the breakaway standoffs, just leave existing mount with screws mounted solid to mailbox post.

I replaced my driveway cam today with a new cam that has a 180 degree FOV. Should have been a simple case of removing the older cam and plugging the new one into the same Ethernet cable (PoE cams) and then screwing the mount to the wall. Except...the Ethernet plug and cable are inside the attic and when I tried to pull them out through the hole in the wall, the cable got stuck somewhere. So now I have to go into the attic and figure out where the cable is hung up. I get up there and realize that I had foolishly piled a ton of stuff along that wall that faces the driveway and the Ethernet cable is somewhere under that mess. Then I moved a bunch of stuff that wasn't where the cable ran, so wasted time. I finally managed to gain access to the cable and free it up enough where I could pull it through the hole in the wall and finish mounting the camera. A 5 minute job took more than a half hour.
