Thank you. Has G80 LCI been confirmed for MY2023 as well?

Can you comment on or even confirm that the U06 230ex will be based on the 4-pot B48 and not the 3-pot anymore? I guess the X1 30ex is too far out to say anything about (though it sounds logical they would go with the same drivetrain there).

It won't be officially an LCI but it will get the same updates like the dash.

I really can't say for sure, can only offer my guesstimated probabilities: 80% B38 and 20% B48.

I'm just brainstoming here, but maybe tracks could install fast chargers and make a profit?

A Taycan can recharge from 5% to 80% in about 15 minutes & the newer batteries will shave some time off of that ...

As for lithium-ion battery fires, no special equip is need for a Li-ion fire: foam extinguisher, CO2, ABC dry chemical, powdered graphite, copper powder, or sodium carbonate just as you would any other fire.

Class D extinguishers are only for lithium-metal fires, not lithium-ion batteries.

I would guess once one track puts in a fast charger, they'll get all of the EV business and then all of others will follow ... but the thing is there probably isn't the demand yet.

W206 C63 is said to have 65km range, so about 40 miles. That is the latest and greatest unreleased tech. Although those figures are estimates, could be more or less pure electric range.
40 miles of range is super pathetic
That's more than the X5 45e and any other hybrid in the BMW lineup.

It's simply not enough and is absolutely to complex otherwise

It might as well be Electric with a simple range extender like i3/i3S REx

A much better value proposition

There is nothing about this that says "BMW". Could be an old Peugeot or a Renault from 10 years ago…

Apart from that huge grille….

Oh dear!

It’s been posted for a long time now on the front page that production for the G42 was supposed to start this month.Does anyone have confirmation from BMM that production has actually started?

Yeah that's why I'm asking. The official 2 series thread says "Market Launch November 2021" so I was conflicted.

I handle the inventory at my BMW store and we've heard nothing about production for the G42. My guess is the November release date is correct.

SOP stands for "Start of production". Market launch is a different thing.

And in most cases I don't make the distinction between different SOPs of Euro and US models, unless they're more than a couple of months apart.

Correct, however the G42 has not begun production yet and I assume won't for at least another month or two.

Please correct me if I'm wrong. Unless European production is starting...

However much BMW loves the US market, it would never develop an engine just for that market.
