It's well publicised and eventually puts a dampener on the thrill of rocket take offs with many of them, why not an M car and be done with it without the crippling depreciation and that charging nonsense.

Even free is ironic as mileage piles on battery failure risk mounts on top of huge service costs like the different tires, (if they are available) brakes eventually and really the more gadgets on it like risky self drive and other electronic add on gizmos can race on quicker to breakdown...the things don't even come with a sunroof or leather interior as option or CD, what?

My favorite is how everything is run through one screen with no redundancy. A bunch of people are going to have a 4000lbs+ paper weight when Tesla goes belly up.

Can happen with the self drive having a mental whoopsie or even driver fatigue and over it goes, then what? unless they carry one of those telescopic tough bars to smash through a window quick they are likely gone.

If it's only for that then a mini EV like a zoe would be suitable for that but when it does go and you don't want replacement battery then the EV scrap charge will bite you.

Not only that - but it basically sounds like a disposable car at that point. How much are you really saving over a cheap gas powered car that could run indefinitely.

We can't claim we are running out of oil - there is no shortage of plastic. Even these EVs are literally made out of oil.

After a few years with average miles these things are ready to be landfilled . Fred Flintstone wouldn't be saying yabadabadoo with these

Can you imagine the fires? No way they can allow these cars in a normal wrecking yard, it's a massive explosion waiting to happen.

My S Plaid has 14,000 miles on it and I was recently thinking about leaving it at a landfill and just getting a new one.

If your EV's battery did die then after a few weeks in a landfill in all probability it would rise in a flaming inferno making Freddie look like a children's movie.

The car looks fantastic and is flawless. But, just on the chance I could have trouble I will just junk it and get another one. Then the car can cause one of the millions of fires that will likely result in the equivalent of a nuclear winter.

It's unlikely to pack up on you if you got it new and its not far from new gblansten. My 32 valver is 11 YO at 44k and every time I want to change the rear pads at just 2mm now, all prepared with the needed tools and know how to do it I'm either ill and still recovering or it's not long since daughters birthday party.
I can live with this tho' and wait for that magic slot when i'm 100% recovered to do the job but the worry from an EV battery failure would have my hair falling out..

I just lost the 2nd Briggs & Stratton 82V Li-Ion battery to my Snapper electric push lawn mower. POS technology.

Sorry to hear that, I recently purchased a B&S gas mower in a larger size, it was the last one in the shop. I must admit getting an E mower never even entered my mind when I was scouring the shop and homed in on my gas one.
After pouring half litre of Brigg's own oil into the engine and only using 99 RON gas as i use in my M I wouldn't change it for all the tea in China.

I will take it off your hands to save you the trip to the dump. I am not as closed minded as many here.
