If I recall correctly, that's the FIA mandate Energy storage indicator. To tell marshalls and officials if the car is safe to touch.

Very cool. Looks like Ricciardo could be a handful for Vettel. The Aussies has not forgotten how SV treated Webber that's for sure, what a roar of applauds when he failed to reach Q3.

Also interesting to see that Kimi consistently looks slower than Alonso.

Mercedes looks very strong with Hamilton showing his skill together with what looks like the best cars. Arguably Ricciardo takes the day though by putting the questionable RBR on the front row on inters on a very slick track. Well done!

Hamilton was great today.

I'm SO happy to see Vettel struggling! I'm not hoping he chokes this year, but it's nice to see that this year he might not dominate like in years past.

The engines sounded like they were revving a bit higher, I wonder if they'll rev as high during the race, where they'll have to be watching their fuel consumption.

I like seeing the drivers struggle with the car, though I do wish the sound were more raucous.

Wouldn't call myself a fan of anyone in particular, though I pulled for Vet domination the last few years because I liked how it rankled a lot of people. I did wish Web would take it to him here and there.

But this year, I'm finding it hard not to pull for Massa and Botas. I also like Button -- he'll be driving with a bit of a deeper purpose this year, and I'm curious to see if that rear suspension "bell" design has any advantage.

And Ricciardo followed up an off season of saying all the right things by putting his nuts out on the table for all to see -- great for him.

I'd like to see Rosberg beat Hamilton.

So many good stories, just underwhelming sound. I'll be tuning in each week.
