I'll probably get a porsche instead of a Nissan anyday.
Skyline in my books are only worth 40k new.

I would hope that most lovers of autobahn mashers wouldn't get too upset over the GTR's performance (....I know I wouldn't!). After all, it doesn't take much to have an R33/R34 Vspec out-perform an ///M3 by a large margin, so the performance of this Skyline really shouldn't come as much of a shock (...to those who have followed the aforementioned Skyline series). Most of us are quite knowledgeable of the Skyline's history (...and serious modding potential).

And for the record, the Skyline has always been a favorite!

The GT-R is here to stir up a lot of drama, and already it's doing it.

As for when it hits the US streets, well, that's going to be a sad day for Corvette.

I've always loved the R34 VSPEC II, hell it would still be the car I would get if it was a viable option here in the US. I personaly didnt like the styling of the GT-R but these performance numbers are making do a double take on it - 0-60 in 3.5 is insane.
The engine is really shoved as far back into the center as possible - looks like it will be hard to work on. The price point is the real difficulty, cause just a little more ur in Porsche territory and the R8 (both which look way better) but the GT-R will run circles on them so its a tough question. This car although better then a vette reminds me of the whole z06 vs. porsche issue. I'll personally be considering this car now in my book to possibly get, I belive any true enthusiast would.

Agreed!

If I could get my hands on an R34 Vspec II right now, I would! There is a guy in my city with a white R34. It's so damn clean.

How's that? The C6 Vette is $25-30K less money and with about 5K in mods with run neck and neck with it, it's the same price as a Z06 and runs about identical 0-60 and 1/4 times with a lower top speed and next year (or so) GM is releasing the ZR-1 Vette which is going to blow up everything. I don't see anything to be sad about.

That price range is a little steep, even for the well off parents of said 16 year olds. Won't be too many 16 year olds running around in this new GTR.

what

how's a 16 year old buying a $70'000+ car?

if you're talking about the wealthy few, then you could say that about any nice car in that price range (like the corvette).

335i and GT-R? Why did you bring up those two cars? For comparison?

There is no comparison.

One is a luxury sports car, the other is a supercar.

Nothing else to say.

I said it in the other GT-R thread, and I'll say it again here...

Come on, guys. Nissan..."Schmissan;" it's hard to argue against these performance numbers (if accurate): 3.5 sec. 0-60mph, 11.7 sec. 1/4 mi., 192mph top speed. This is serious supercar territory, and it's STOCK; faster than most if not all (haven't checked) Ferraris, Lambos, Porsche 997 Turbo, 'Vette Z06. I don't care if it's Nissan or not (and I've driven both Nissan and Infiniti in the past, and although the quality is sub-BMW, I enjoyed driving all of them! )...the '09 Nissan GT-R is a sports supercar to be reckoned with.

parents.

and the thing is ..... you cant compare a corvette to a nissan. 350s/g35s/etc etc are all fanboy cars for kids that favor the fast and the furious series and as soon as you mention the word "skyline" to them, they'll get on their knees.
