Obviously the 996 SHOULD be the faster car, no one is debating that. But under some conditions, you may end up beating one if the driver isn't proficient at driving it. On that particular day, at 2700FT LACR 80+ Degrees, it took a 600HP Porsche to run low 12's. And that was with an experienced driver. So no, a regular 911 Turbo would not be a low 12' second car on that day, at that particular track, I can guarantee that. E39 M5s were running mid 14's as were the M3s. Some supercharged M3s barely broke out of the 14's. S4 V8 Audis ran in the 15's. And my stock 335i ran a 13.465, a tick slower than the 500HP AMG's.(which I beat in some races)..so go figure. And of course, if you told someone you beat a 6.0L GTO in the 1/4mile by a full second, with your stock 335i, I guess you would be on crack. But it can happen, because thats exactly what I did, several times. So we all are intelligent to know which cars are supposed to be faster. But under certain circumstances, you just might surprise a "faster" car in a race..no big deal...it just happens sometimes. Just makes racing more fun and interesting at times.

This whole tread is making me ill. Yes if the Porsche driver is not on his game and you're on your's sure you can beat him. But if both drivers are on their game the Porsche WILL smoke your ass hands down!
And if you cannot put your 335i into first gear I too CAN beat you on foot. |

Actually that was me driving the 996TT it was my friends car and my first time in tiptronic 996TT on 1/4 mile. I left the light on 2nd gear I forgot to shift it too 1st. So yes My mistake. Many of you might not know but 996tt's tiptronics normally take off 2nd gear you have to physically shift it down. And on the second pass I left of 1st gear & ran 13,20's @107
Actually that day many fast cars weren't getting the best out of them that's my Friends Red SL55 AMG on the PIC behind me which on Fontana ran 12.20's but in LACR 14.1 and 13.9's. E63 AMG ran 13.90, Audi RS6 ran 14.3 & all the cars I mentioned supposed too run low 12's. It was a Hot Day and 3000 feet above sea level didn't help the cars ran to rich. Too much fuel not enough oxygen. And I couldn't even launch it every time I build boost on brakes the ABS creeps the brakes and the wastegates open so launch on vacuum no boost. My Syclone on old Setup ran 11.1 @121 MPH in Pomona but 11.6 @117 in Palmdale on colder day. But the Bmmr did well I am glad I made your Day Bro. Sorry Ed your 996TT is not slow as you already know |

I was happy you never beat me, but dam you stayed much closer than I would of imagined. I beat a 996 TT (the black one) 550 hp. He bogged and failed to reel me in. Driver error or not , you beat a very capable car.:rocks: |

revival....
I raced my dad this afternoon from ~20-100. He RAN away, plus his Turbo is a cab. so it's a bit heavier. 335's are quick, but Turbos are brutal-- especially when modded (both my car and my dads are stock though).
